Should see how this is being put forward on the Noordhoek Residents forum on FB. My word... Rabid comes to mind.

You can't have an opposing view on there...

I deal with a lot of public participation in my field of work, and I have seen my fair share of BS comments and complaints. That side of the mountain is particularly bad (too many people with too much time on their hands).

It's for a school for FFS.

Presume this was a failed attempt at garnering support from a group of people the OP thought would be on her/his/their side.

Shame.

Surprisingly cyclists aren't all the selfish tools some would have you believe.

Maybe the roadies think with more cars on the road, it will be a little more congested and slower, meaning easier to slip stream a car up chappies and get better Strava times.

Only logical explanation.

True that school is higher priority than cycling or whatever other recreational activity.

But on the flipside I don't think that the added traffic congestion due to a new a new school is a trivial thing - can the roads handle 600(?) extra cars during peak morning hours? Days are gone where you can just plop down a new school and sort out the other impacts later.

Similar issue in the northern suburbs where a new school is planned in Vredekloof (plus other housing developments) - both are desperately needed but Brackenfell Boulevard can hardly handle the current traffic as is, this is a f^&* up waiting to happen..

That side of the world is being built up so fast,  the roads and services have not kept up. They need more facitlites in the valley to support those living there.

Agreed and majority of it is wetlands, which I hope remains intact

thing is that there are 600 cars on the road already, going over the nek. An additional school in the area would most likely alleviate traffic congestion for those working outside the area.

Was really shocked at how much of the nature reserve on Ou Kaapse became that new private estate, almost the entire first bottom bit on the right hand side as you go up.

that was as far as I know always private land. It borders Parks land, true - but there was a gross amount of misrepresentation in that (and many other) campaigns against more facilities and other things in the area.

Then I am surprised it was allowed to be sold back in the D as private. I also would have made the developer make the road a double carriage way :P

dude... you have NO idea...

Well, as it stands, Hout Bay is such a hippy place, it's amazing it can see over its pelvis...
