Garmin Edge 500 cannot load into Garmin Express

The problem started wit not being able to synch the device. Uninstalled Express but now it sees the 500 but cannot but I get a message that the Garmin servers are not available. The proxy setting is at Auto.

I want to change some settings that can only be done through Express and connect.

What can I do to fix this?

Yes, it is more a application issue than the E500. Firmware on it is up to date.

Everything works except it did not synch. I also followed some advice from Garmin on their own forum regarding issues with the 500.

Would it be stupid to ask if you can access Garmin Connect via the browser on that machine?

Garmin connect work fine too. The settings (Max HR) ect. is done in it.

I have to manually upload my files to Garmin Connect due to the Synch issue. Express did show it was synching but the two programs does not speak to each other. Thus I re-installed Express.

Uploaded this mornings ride without any problems (also using an Edge 500).

I've had issues with Express before.

Are you using the PC / Notebook at work or at home ?

Some companies block things like Express.

What do you mean by incorrect? You weren't trying to use an iPhone cable?

Some USB cables can only do charging and no data transfer.

If you do something like and Everesting, you WANT a cable that only charges otherwise the Garmin ends your ride.  (For example)

I think you do get some cables that are for charging only not data transfer as well?

O ok. Didn't know that. Thought a cable was a cable. Thanks. Wonder whats different that the cable can only charge?

Yes cables can also be a challenge, I've found this out the hard way.

A cell phone cable can normally only charge but I think that a camera cable can charge and do data transfer.

I can manually upload the data via the usb cable. Copy the file to pc and then upload.

Yesterday the file could not even be uploaded to Garmin Connect but it worked fine with Strava as manual upload.

Its not the cable. As Reden said, he can manually copy via the cable to the PC...

The USB cables that is only charge capable has less wires... Easiest way to check is to connect a device with dais cable to PC, if it shows up as a device, it is not just a charge cable, but can do data transfer as well...
