Slx brakes not so great

I've been experiencing a lack of breaking power especially with the rear brake which is on a 180mm rotor, I've bled them and brake pads are fine. The front brake is deadly like OTB deadly so no problem there. I here other people rave about how great they are but I'm not so sure of that thinking of going to a 4pot system like the magura or zee as both seem very good on a budget .... anyone willing to wade in on this one?

I am a heavy guy and had issues in the past with avids overheating. i switched over to slx with xt rotors 180 front and back. Its been 3 years that i have them now and have not had an issue, i haven't riden alot this year and just recently built over a new frame and i've noticed mine is also not what it used to be.

But mine have not been bled since fitting them so i will probably just send for bleed to LBS and that should sort my issues out.

Pads and / or discs may be contaminated. Remove them and sand the pads, clean them with isopropyl alcohol and let dry. Don't let fingers on any braking surfaces.

I'm with this guy - if the front is deadly and the rear crappy then there has to be some kind of contamination.

A quick and easy check is - ride with the brake slightly on for a while - as the rotor/pads heats up it should start biting more and more - if this is the case then you need to clean both rotor and pad.

Spray the isopropyl directly onto the pads... I've not tried that...

Thanks dude

Soak them in alcohol then set them on fire. Burns off any contaminants.
