Today I Learnt, that if you go balls to the wall on a tricky descent and come short and have to spend time recovering, denizens of the internet will call you out for wimping it.

Shoo, everyone's a critic.

He'll be back.. think he could only start riding again early August..

Nah. I think he is one hurtful forum post away from packing it in all together.

[Edit]: Maybe John can confirm that Porte is heading back to triathlons now. Better public support.

Well what has become of him?  Yes he is great athlete - but I wonder about his headspace.

His injuries included a broken pelvis and collarbone and pretty severe concussion. For that alone healing time is 6 weeks if there no complications.

Take that time of 6 weeks at best as he crashed 9 July  and he is allowed back on the bike which would be pretty light riding a month before Worlds.

Wether his headspace is that of a Tasmanian Devil or a Hamster eating a carrot, that is no where near the amount of time to prep for any type of race at World Tour level so I am very sure he is now focusing on 2018 season as per normal.

I say this respectfully but sometimes the internet don't think, don't do a little homework yet make posts that are in the WOW factor.

He goes beyond the measure of being totally incompetent in what he was meant to do. He was totally and utterly useless.

Cheers, see you never.

Back to the racing - good money on Impey at 80/1!

Surely Sagz can't do a threepeat here, i reckon Bling or GVA

Gilbert are very very good odds and chances of him winning are strong.

Any idea what the odds are for McGregor to take it?

It is impressive what the interwebs can come up with some days... Bike racing at that level takes big kahuna's. Most people seriously aren't cut out for even being pro, let alone at the kind of level Richie has ridden. He'll be back, he'll be hungry - looking forward to it!
