Sweets daily - effects now and in the future

Please don't laugh but i enjoy Klipdrift Premium with either Coke Zero or Coke Light and on 2 seperate occasions about 21 days apart i woked up during the night with this terrible feeling. I was sweaty, had this funny feeling on my stomach/chest and really thought i was going to have a Heart attack. Now i wear a defibrilator so i have an irregular heart beat sometimes(reason why it was put in). Could this be related to the Aspartame in the said beverages?

perhaps... but cardiologists don't normally put in a defib unless they suspect something more serious than aspartame sensitivity... do you have regular activations of the defib? If you do them perhaps just avoid the apartame and see if the incidence reduces.

Sugar does not cause diabetes.

It's not as clear as you make it out to be... it's not thought to cause diabetes directly - But it is implicated in several auto immune diseases... and diabetes is an auto immune diseases. I am not saying you are wrong - But the cause of diabetes is being studied a lot these days - and they don't seem to have a definitive conclusion at all - yet - and no serious scientist is discounting carbohydrate as a potential factor any more.

Holyshit, dude! 4-5kg biscuits a month! I thought my occasional Oreo binging was bad.

I share your addiction. Sweet baked goods are my kryptonite. I'm not fussed about sweet drinks, chocolate or most other sweet stuff, but I have the bad habit of 'treating' myself with some cookies and biscuits over the weekend.

I can easily finish a packet of Lemon Creams (only Bakers, though, I am discerning, dammit) in one go. It is ridiculous. Or a packet of sweet chilli Dorito's. Very specific, odd things. Luckily chocolate is not my thing, other than the milk. Nor sweets. Nor beer. Nor any other chips. Eish, I must be very grateful I love to train.

I have a been a biscuit fiend my whole life, but ever since I moved to the Netherlands I have a had stroopwafel craving. I wrapped two in tin foil to take with on a ride!

When I used to do long rides in Cape Town or when riding an event my wife would bake chocolate cookies with caffeine. Worked like a charm!

There is no argument, sugar is BAD.I know I'm addicted and should cut back.

I'm not a piece of chocolate or 1 chuckle types of guy.

I'm the whole bag and slab.

And don't even think of asking me to share.

Hasn't affected my weight since I've been cycling over 30 years but as I clock 50 it is getting harder to maintain weight.

The main thing I have seen which has become a HUGE problem is that I don't have many tanne left.

I put it down to the sweet tooth but mainly 30 years of cycling with high sugar energy during and goo type gels etc.

Now if I'm doing coffer ride I only put water in bottle and try take more food with and less of this commercial rubbish everyone advertises.

Bottom line is I'm 50 and am looking at the option of false teeth or implants. If you've seen the price of implants,it makes your new s works look like small change.

So bottom line it's very bad and you going to pay huge for it later

I had two activitaions from 2011 when they did the implant. The first one was apparently unnecesary and the "paramaters" where adjusted. The second one was the real deal , i was on antibiotics which caused an irregular heart, fortunatley the defib kicked in and corrected the issue....not a nice feeling to be honest. That was Sept 2015..... Touch wood nothing ever since. I have used some alcholic beverages with some other mixes but with not the same expierance than with the Coke Zero/Light.

Stroopwafels are in a league of their own and those Marie biscuit sized small ones fit nicely into my gob without having to bite into them....

Gees, when the effort is in the biting perhaps you need to dismiss the ladies in waiting, get off the chaise lounge and get your butt onto the bike??

Biscuit chomping is an acquired taste process which has evolved over the last 53 years, don't f*** with it now

I will give my own a few more years' experimentation before I accept it as proof of evolution.

In SA I hardly crave anything sweet but here in Kuwait I strugle yo leave chocolate alone. Now I wonder if it is because I am not getting sugar from beer and brandy (which I drink with water mostly) that I develop a sweet tooth here.

Those little ones make great spoons when eating ice cream  :w00t:

Another sweet tooth here.

I'm addicted to baking, biscuits and cakes are my weakness.

Over the previous two months, I was eating an average of almost a kg of biscuits every week (mostly Cape Cookies cos my wife couldn't bake fast enough to keep up with my demand). So my diet for the day during the week was tea (three spoons sugar) and biscuits for breakfast and lunch, and then usually a very big and mostly healthy supper.

I'm 32 years old, and I'm pretty lean as I do MMA twice a week and at least a two hour MTB ride every weekend. I don't sick too often either.

Not sure if my bad diet was a contributing factor, but over the last two month I kept getting boils, but really bad one's, two on my back, one on my finger that almost made me lose a nail and just recovering from one on my elbow.

I'm also suffering from post nasal drip and Cluster Headaches at the moment...

So decided to take it easy on the baking for just over a week now. Having a 'proper' breakfast cereal, having a fruit for lunch and then proper supper as usual. Keeping the tea to one cup (dropped the sugar to 1tsp) in the morning when I get to work with no biscuits/cake. I do still have another cup in the evening with just one or two biscuit/some cake.

So hoping to see a change now that I've decided to cut out a bit of the sugar and eat a bit healthier... let's see what happens.

Those boils are possibly caused by picking up something from rolling around on the mats at your gym (especially based on the areas you're getting the boils). Maybe try wearing a rash guard for a while.

Those fresh ones they sell at markets are the best. Id lie in a pool of those and eat my way to the bottom.

You can apparently mix that stuff with water... personally I prefer neat vodka over brandy...

You seem not to have much use on your defib - if it was mine I would be getting a second opinion on its usefulness.

Talking of stroopwafels, my wife makes and sells something she's called Ice Cream Waffalatoes, basically two mini stroopwaffels with different flavoured Ice Cream in the middle... which is another 'problem' I have at home... I get to eat all of the broken/damaged one's.
