'Dale Posted October 31, 2017 Share I like how the long route always tries to kill you. That is the thing with these Durbie Dash/Faircape rides, it's the charm about them. If you wanted an easy ride the you should line up with the tar brigade. Since 2011 it has become more and more challenging each year. Skipped 2012 cause I was sick. 2011 : 60km 1200m https://www.strava.com/activities/859731342013 : 61km 1380m https://www.strava.com/activities/978804662014 : 60km 1260m https://www.strava.com/activities/2113744072015 : 70km 1830m https://www.strava.com/activities/4190707322016 : 72km 1960m https://www.strava.com/activities/7590766752017 : 63km 1830m https://www.strava.com/activities/1249983454 From memory the toughest for me was 2015, but I think I was just having a bad day. Here's to Durbie Dash being as tough as they come It never gets easier, you only go faster. Greg LeMond

mrcg Posted October 31, 2017 Share It never gets easier, you only go faster. Greg LeMond Haha, yes very true. Use it all the time. And I LOVE a challenge and have ridden a lot of the toughest around. My worst is still Bosman last year! Hectic cramps. I struggle with too many hard climbs - my legs go jelly. I am experimenting with my food/drink on course and pre-workout (in training) but sometimes it's just too much of hard....My fun and strength factor is also more on the technical side of single track and downhill and can also push on rolling flats. On climbs and consecutive hills I can settle into a rhythm and churn it a bit (performance is always a daily occurrence) but sometimes it's just enough already Also obviously closely linked to energy levels - at other events I managed to finish strong, but at this DD I lost some energy 3/4 way (and motivation?) when I saw that hill. It wasn't that much fun anymore. For reference, my time was 3:
Karman de Lange Posted October 31, 2017 Share Slightly frustrating day in D for me. Don't mind wheelsuckers, don't even mind if they contest the sprint at the finish, but stuffing around at the working end of the bunch when you have no intention of rolling through and letting gaps open up on fourth wheel because you heard that if you are tired the best place to be is near the front is not cool.Still had fun out there though! Seeding is out ,seems like most of D going up to C(~16.5 index) and E-F going to D. so sportiff #5 gonna be interesting

Cat2forLife Posted October 31, 2017 Share Stricker still in hospital? Terrible accident, hope the recovery goes quickly! He's on his way home today. All seems well. Doctor is happy with the hand. Rest is just road rash. Should be back on the bike in about 4 weeks if all goes well. He also asked me to thank Ernst Viljoen, the organiser of the event, for visiting him in the hospital and expressing his sympathies.
Pure Savage Posted October 31, 2017 Share Since they're now seeding per event, can your last event negatively affect your seeding? No, it just does not help the cause. (So when the current one gets a penalty the newer one does not keep the index as low.
Skubarra Posted October 31, 2017 Share Since they're now seeding per event, can your last event negatively affect your seeding? no - your best event will always count, only difference is that with the fequent updating you will have to do at least 1 good event every 6 months as opposed to 1 a year under the previous system. bleedToWin Posted October 31, 2017 Share no - your best event will always count, only difference is that with the fequent updating you will have to do at least 1 good event every 6 months as opposed to 1 a year under the previous system.Which seems unnecessarily punitive to those that participate in multiple sports and only have one cycling peak a year... Anyhow, see you guys in C at the sportif
Maila Posted October 31, 2017 Share That was me lost all skin on my left side and stitches in the knee. Someone threw something down and took out my front wheel.
