I'm a bit late to the party... only started cycling last year. Why has the road races in the Southern Suburbs stopped?

Roadworks and traffic congestion would probably be top of the list of reasons.

Cost of traffic department is also a big issue. There are so many intersections and each one needs x staff members and they cost a lot.

So turns out that the picketberg WP road event today was cancelled half way as they realized nobody had organized an ambulance...

I hope that is where the one ambulance of the day went! Flip man!! Out for 20 minutes is massive! Really hope he heals up fast!! There was a monster tailwind for the first part, must have been flying!

Without bashing anyone or club etc but this is honestly unacceptable.  Its the same category as using medical insurance payments towards salaries at CSA.

I really hope the gentleman / youngster who went down is ok, to be out for 20min is very very serious.

This was CSA sanctioned event, I would have thought part of the job of the CSA commissure at the event,  is to check if basics like this is actually in place?

I few weeks ago I met a CSA commissaire that I almost punched in the face.

Hi guys,

I know this is not exactly the place, but I came across a gentleman from kommetjie who is keeping kids of the streets, by learning them to ride bikes.

He himself is a very active cyclist. If you have any small road bikes, frames, parts that you do not want or need, you can always pay it forward to him. He is currently helping 14 primary school  kids.

I would presume so, honestly I do not know but regardless how can you not have a ambulance there? Its a race.

It actually upsets me to see how far down the barrel road cycling in the WC has gone. We used to be a power house and now I just don't know.

My understanding is that there was one ambulance, there was a bad crash and they then had to use that ambulance to take the person to hospital. Then they realised they dont have another one and then cancelled the remainder of the race?

Regardless, they should have had 2, especially if its all the way out in Piketberg. Common sense.
