Future Pieter's problems. Pike OR DVO Diamond

Hey guys.

In terms of service costs and feel is there anyone who can compare these two forks? I have looked at some of the mtbr threads but I could not take much from there.

Thanks.

I think if you compare a top-end Pike (not sure of model specifics) against the DVO Diamond you're really just comparing branding. Both are excellent, but I can't speak for the Pikes service issues (whether it has any or not)

I can tell you the Diamond has been mucking afazing! And in terms of service, not really been an issue. Like any high-end component it does need regular servicing and I am happy to pay someone who knows what they're doing to get the job done.

Also, I don't ride 2000km a week on my bike.

MRP Ribbon or Manitou Mattoc 2 but if you are choosing between those two specifically then the Pike with Ramp Control & Luffkappe aftermarket upgrades would be great but that is some extra R's to think in to the price.

Manitou Mattoc Pro with IRT assembly...half the price, super simple servicing and as good if not better performance...Also easily adjustable travel if you need/want... CRC

Mattoc available in 29 boost ?

Can't find it on CRC

Servicing ? Can any plane jane ( me, for like lowers service ) do it or does have to go to agents/droo ?

(takes deep breath...)

If you're not a tinker or a fan of a-journey-of-1,000-miles-to-setup then get a Pike. Make it a 2018 as the Charger 2 damper is a big step over what was already great.

If you don't mind some fiddling then...

This does not exclude the Pike, just bring some others into play.

The DVO is an EXCELLENT fork and adds the excellent OTT setting which is easier to use than stuffing around with tokens or spacers, etc.

I have a MRP Stage on my Knolly Warden and although good it adds dual air which has been fidly to set-up and get dialled. Almost like it is a step too far FOR ME in terms of external settings. But it is good. Very

Fox's 36 (or 34) depending on wheel size or travel) is also a great option, but can be quite expensive.

Not sure I would stuff around with some of the other brands as local support is still fairly limited.

But to be honest, between the Fox, RockShox, MRP and DVO it's a bit of pick your poison or tickle your fancy.

Pre 2017 Pike did not have the mid stroke support of the DVO Diamond. Was quite linear. I found it easier to get the DVO to stay playful plus have great initial small bump / plushness and still have sufficient ramp-up towards bottom out.

Hahaha! Thanks! Yea I had a brain ace just wathing the video on the MRP Ribbon. Seems great but thats to much tinkering for me. I’ll try and ride some bikes with the pike, dvo and fox and see whats going on. Thanks everyone.

Not sure it's available on CRC yet. as for lowers service, super simple DIY. Even the damper you can DIY. But any good bike shop would be able to help, not just our favourite Droo. Seal kits don't need to be Manitou branded, SKF, or the Fox 34 seals fit too. I cannot bring myself to pay double for a Pike or Diamond when they are not better (IMHO) than the Mattoc.

Recently I have been on a Pike and MRP (on loan) and found the MRP better actually. So if you wanna burn cash, then MRP Ribbon could also be an option.

But go check some other reviews....Mattoc tends to wind hands down in comparison to other forks.
