We were chatting on the photographer thread about chances to take some sunset and night sky photo's.

This got me thinking of a family, fun orientated Hub Get together. I totally forgot about the evening picnic's at the Taal Monument.

Would any of you guys be interested in a late afternoon Mountain bike Hub ride at/around Paarl (suited for the whole family). Maybe get some downhill fun in for those who have never done this before. Followed by a picnic at the Monument with a bit of star gazing thrown in ? Maybe brining our camera's (cell phone camera's included) and taking some night sky pics?

Here is some info:

For STARS it seems it is :

- 11 November 2017 (I am keeping this date open - subject to my project in the Northern Cape ... still waiting for confirmation on the next site date)

or

- 16 December 2017

For FULL MOON (we can certainly still take some star pics, but it will be a test session at best) it is :

- 4 November 2017

or

- 1 December 2017

The area has limited access after hours, so we are pretty much at their mercy for these dates.

11 November is a bit close, but what the heck .... lets try make 11 Novemebr.

What are the rides around Paarl that would be easy for the family and those with more skills can head off as well ?

Spoke to PetiteGiant & we're keen, depending on the timing of a kiddies bday party on that day.

Bovenland has a nice trail next to the monument. It's a tough climb to the top but really rewarding down. Probably not too beginner friendly with that climb. I could only manage 3 laps on the opening day and almost barfed twice. Otherwise don't know riding in Paarl. Based on vids, the downhill track looks cool too

Bovenland needs owners permission. Not open for public riding.
