Wait, there is nothing illegal about having a following vehicle. Then, just the blocking of intersections and then hurling abuse when being told they were not allowed to block an intersection? Agreed - douches for doing that.

I dont think any of the animosity really comes from these kinds of encounters. The okes that plough into bunch of cyclists dont care about cyclists, they just drunk.

Have a look here, this lady was too busy on her phone and didnt see the cyclist. If he had a back up car this would not have happened...

But do you hurl abuse at the tractor driver traveling at 30 km/h, who is effectively blocking you?

I did NOT hurle abuse at the cyclists.

Nor did I hurle abuse at the very slow moving VERY large tractor rig blocking the road outside Bredasdorp.

Worth noting there ARE two differences :

- The AG branded vehicle was blocking a road where it was SAFE to cycle two abreast ..... no need for a backup vehicle to control traffic in that scenario.

- the tractor had to use the road, AND as soon as it noticed any cars it drove onto the gravel next to the road.

once a cyclist gets a serious ground and pound after zapping the wrong guy, the word will spread and the rest will fall into line.

not before ALL the SJW on here want the guys head on a stick and cant understand what has driven the motorist to do this!

Ahh at last someone that sees the Bigger picture.

Thank You

Dude, most people see the bigger picture, and even agree that we must be more conscious and considerate of how we ride, hell I even ran a "Considerate Cycling" campaign with fellow fallen Hubber once.

But they also see how you are having a mini vloer moer about it. Don't get drawn into the semantics of the issue, you won't win.

All jokes aside -

THAT PERSON blocking the road should not ask for any sympathy when he gets what is coming his way ..... WAY too many agro drivers on the road to play these games !!

BUT, what gets to me is that that individual is putting the rest of us in danger !!!!  as we may be the next cyclist this aggrevated driver encounters on the road .....

LEEF EN LAAT LEEF ..... stay safe out there fellow cyclists.

Guys, as much as I am for cycling safety... comparing a horse drawn cart or tractor who is just trying to get by with a bunch of middle age upper income fat men riding their bikes as a hobby, is going to draw different emotions from people.

If you can't see how that will ilicit a different response then you are missing half the issue.

Follow cars are cool, as long as they don't act like knobheads! Try to see the bigger picture for once.

Shocking how many "moblie reading" drivers are cyclist with "stay wider of the rider" stickers on the back or even a bike on the tow-bar.

And then they are in branded vehicles with cycling branding.....least 3 companies come to mind right now.

But it will never happen to them (driver)
