Please help me out here, I'm looking for a new chain and on CWC's website there is a SRAM 1031 and a SRAM 1051 chain. What is the difference, both cost R240?

Are there any other chains I should consider? I'm riding a shimano 2x10 groupset.

i think you should buy a shimano XT chain if your running a shimano drivetrain

I have been using the same xt chain since February and it still spins smooth

or you can go slx thats a bit cheaper and lasts almost just as good

You can use any 10 speed chain on a 10 speed group set.

Sram 1031 is their "entry level" chain and 1051 the "mid level".  How they measure the differences is more likely to be marketing jargon and weight then any measurable performance difference.

I only use a chain with a quick link so tend to buy one that comes with a link as having to buy the link separately significantly adds to the cost. That is I seldom buy Shimano.

The new Shimano chains are all shipping with quick links now

Thank you, only reason I'm looking at Sram is for the quick link.

I am very happy with KMC chains.

Unfortunately, CWC is out of stock in the 10spd version.

I have two, which I swap out for time and again.

Currently, have about a 1000km on both and still running strong according to my chain checker.

EDIT: I am also running 10spd (1x10).

I've moved away from quick links, they tend to wear quicker then the rest of the chain in my experience, resulting in a dodgy shift or clunk when pedaling, once every chain revolution.

The difference in chains is often only the anti rust plating they get. This is no problem if you are riding regularly and lube your chain.

If they the same price, go 1051, but normally you can save a couple bucks by going 1031 without a difference in performance.

Starts adding up if you replacing quick links. Though I will admit they are convenient.

On that note, anyone have a good source of shimano masterlinks?

All Shimano 10 speed chains I have bought came with quick links. Even the 9 speed chains for my old road bike comes with it.

Ignore me, just checked the extra ones I have. Both (9 and 10 speeds) comes with pin only...
