He still had to do the hard yards, and boy did he deliver. Unbelievable. Glued to the TV the last 2 days. Stage 20 was a worry, remembering his poor form after the Zoncolan so was holding my breath all the way that the 40secs would be enough. And then Poels came back and lowered my BP a bit. Wow, what a show. Admit I've always been a Le Tour man and never got this Gen thing about the Giro, but the drama during this one made me think again. Awesome entertainment.

But lucky for him that he had access to that British Passport, although he might well have found another way to the top of the sport given his fortitude.
