Bwahahahaha really, not when you like some of us big guys.#gramcounters[emoji6]

I'm a big guy myself, but when you have to drag a bike up a hill for an hour, then that 200gr needs to be like a happy ending on the fun bit to make it worth it over and above the air fork

Thank you everyone for your input. went to see the bike last night I think the size is also good it was set up for a lanky tall dude and I still felt more comfy on the bike than on the 17.5.

I have made my offers Seller made counter offers and I think we happy in the middle so I may be a owner of a new bike as of today. NOW to see what I can get for my Older HT

PS he also showed me the bike with a set of 27.5+ tires **** I loved that look

PS I am also not a gram counter at my weight I think I am more of a Kilogram counter and sometimes my scale doesn't like my kilograms and nor do I

My Hightower had a pike on it and it was great. But the new ribbon is just something else. Wasn’t sure if I would be able to tell the difference between the stage & the ribbon . Have owned 2 stages & a loop tr. But I can .

The small bump compliance on the ribbon is nothing short of brilliant for me . The other trait I do like about the ribbon over the stage is that it feels like it rides a little higher in its travel, not as much as the pike but just the right amount . For me anyway.

I am still busy dialing it in but as someone who is very front end biased &very particular in my set up, this fork is the one ☝️ ️. Coupled with the new following mb it’s grinning from ear to ear every pedal stroke .

Ribbon for the win. As for Trailtech, Craig & Brenton with there merry men,can show a lot shops what service is about .

Slight "Hijack" I have a Rockshox - Sector on my Scott, what would be a nice upgrade that will not break the bank - Hijack off.

revelation or Yari , both are still quite expensive but not nearly as much as pike or lyrik

Mattoc is also a worthy contender

I've got a pike, I've had a Mattoc and a Stage.

I liked my pike when it was 'broken' and in need of a service. I'm not so keen on it now it's had a full service and Luffekappe. I really liked my Mattoc and want their 29'r version to get to 140mm  travel as that would be pretty sweet, overlook that and you're dumbass. I had a 650b Stage that was really great and would love to get a 140mm 29'r Ribbon without a doubt. Really want one.

do you feel like the luftkappe was A mistake , and if yes why ?

What was wrong with it to be "broken"  , and what was wrong with it after getting it back

Honestly I don't know, I'm still trying to feel it out. I got the fork second hand and the guy said it's been serviced not that long ago and he'd done a recent lowers service himself. So I rode it 'as was' with 2 tokens in for about 4 months. I liked it, it was solid, easy dial in, felt firm, sat up and would use the travel well. only issue I had was riding fast small bump was a bit brutal. I got it serviced and it was a total mess, was a full rebuild (droo spend ages getting everything right) and I threw a ramp control and a luftkappe in for luck.

Since I got it back I can't get that mix of solid feel, firm progression and the full support and struggling to keep it sitting high. The travel is the same but it feels like a lighter, less precise fork now and less certain. I'm going to dump the air and cycle it through again a few times and then strip it right back with the settings and start again.

My Stage that I was running at the same time and the Mattoc dialed in easily and kept great support all through the stroke. Did the travel and the bigger hits smoothly but felt firm.

Bring it round and we can pop the RC out and add a few tokens and a standard topcap - the velocity sensitive nature of the ramp control isn't for everyone.

Cheers big man. I was planning to come through and talk turkey this week... but there isn't much left of it now! :)
