It was a mountain bike...

Nuff said

MTBers are not used to traffic.

Often deluded thinking it’s the open and friendly trails.

Not used to heavy metal cages wanting to share space.

Verdict

12 years cyclist

For retaliation the Beemer driver - 6 years

Poor wife and kids having to sit through all of this .Bet they were terrified.

If it was my 1st ride on a new bike I would be careful.Very careful

yas, so many assumptions. So many flipping assumptions.

Maybe I missed some of these FACTS whilst reading through all the allegations, but it seems like a whole lot of on-hub year end aggression is gofer heading.

How about questions to op;

How long has said rider been riding? Can he control a bike, is he stable and is he used to riding in traffic?

Were you riding 2 abreast or single file?

Is this guy (rider) aggressive by nature - I assume you know him somewhat?

800mm wide bars? (yes it is relevant)

How fast were you going?

Was traffic congested?

Thank goodness, Bathabile Dlamini was becoming more interesting than him

Haha not even. He was just burning the Troll-tekkies big time and a few fell for it...the poor child is probably bored - with the matric exams over and everything...

My friend then (perhaps unnecessarily) gives him the one finger salute.

The driver (who is travelling with his wife and kids) ignores my friend and in his heightened state my friend hits his mirror breaking the housing.

Sounds like your mate has roid rage and should get some counselling for anger management.

Yup. 100%

"THAT" C word is on my list of "instant PKs" - it's vulgar and uncouth and plain old siff.

Words are just words and should not be met with physical violence. Just because a word offends you, that does not give you the right to hit somebody.

Only a “c word” would physically “p word” klap (slightly ironic) somebody else for saying a bad word.

Agreed. Both parties in the wrong, with one being more wrong than the other.

Oh wait, the guy was driving a BMW??

That automatically makes him 100% in the wrong and a major douche

Hey Chingy ,

Where does that put me ???

I am a roadie AND I drive a BMW ????

For a moment there I thought it was Mr Yellow Bike.

Well loosing ones temper in the heat of the moment never ends well.

The cyclists should of just gotten the reg, possibly any witnesses and reported a hit and run, maybe a lawyer, but def go thru the legal process with the driver.

By hitting the mirror, that is road rage, and now everything has changed.

What a shame, the cyclist could not of made an example of him, but to some degree I understand the frustration.

Seems like the driver might have been a little intoxicated or didnt want to be responsible for damages he would of had to pay for the bicycle after realizing it would most likely cost a pretty penny.
