Any Safe riding areas in JHB ?

In JHB for a few week over the holidays and wonder if there are any safe areas I can go ride alone ? 

 

How safe is Northern Farms in the week to ride? or the Cradle loop ?

Either cradle or modderfontein will be good.

 

Lots of group rides out in the cradle at this time of year.

Where exactly in Joburg are you staying?

Northern Farms safe, just ride within the farm ie not on the boundary roads. I have been doing the Spruit alternate mornings by myself with no issues (touch wood) but wouldn't put my proverbial's on the line vouching for absolute safety though. 

 

Thaba Trails is also safe - assume you staying in the North though if looking at NF or Cradle so Thaba could be a tad far, although with the reduced traffic it is not a major issue.

Awesome in fact, and if you choose to cycle there on new years eve you get a free tv/stove/microwave launched onto your head!

There is also Avianto and Cradle Moon, not sure if they are open all week or what their hours are but they would be safe and worth checking out.

Northern Farm is very nice!! Ride there alone fairly often

You gotta also take a 30 minute drive out to Van Gaalen's cheese farm. Amazing trails there. And I would say rather safe as well.

If you have the legs for a few decent climbs, and wheels to get there, Suikerbosrand is pure bliss, awesome time of the year to visit (love the smell of the fresh veld in the  morning)
