All in all an interesting GT. New faces on the podium, Sagan empty handed, Sky not featuring... The only thing normal was the Wolfpack Raiding Party kicking arse. Again.

Edit: DData Winning stages! Unexpected and awesome!

The most surprising thing must be the Quickstep team meeting now.

They've got a 23yr old GC rider to potentially win GTs, but they don't actually have a GT project/ambitions .....sell him to someone whilst he's hot property? (ie. like SKY buying wiggo out of slipstream contract?)

He beat multiple GT winner Nibbles by a full 3minutes and one place higher on the rankings.

And now for some withdrawal symptoms as the grand tours that matter are over. The World Championship race is all that we have to look forward to...

And Christmas! :-)

Actually it was a really quick three weeks. I didn't have as much spare time as is hoped but managed to see most of the best stages.

They were pretty lucky with the weather - all over Spain for the last month there's been storms and floods etc, although it is generally still hot too.

They had the same sort of cold mist in up in Andorra that they had on stage 17 of le Tour - where Nairo won the stage. The two stages were pretty close geographically so makes sense.

Now let's see what happens at the worlds.

It will be nice to have a new world champion in the place of that bloke with the funny voice who wore the jersey for the last 3 years   :P

Has Sags said he won't compete? If not, then I wouldn't jump the gun just yet . . .

He will be there.. but has said it is a very difficult route for him.

He has done the rainbows proud.

Will miss him in the stripes..but all things come to and end.

Special mention to the Basque fans and all the other fans which made this an incident-free Grand Tour.

Let's forget about the race official who crossed the racing lines and caused a crash.

Makes Le Tour look a bit amateurish to be honest. Well done La Vuelta.

But as said elsewhere, the hooligans/blokes/fans supporting the Tour were probably tourists from elsewhere. But the Vuelta was better policed.

so back to the Vuelta.

First Grand Tour the Yates twins ride together and they win it.

Now what are the chances of some switcheroo happening, a bit of #twindoping?

Would be pretty easy as they are EYE dentical.

simon chills on a few stages and adam rides with his number.

easy peasy lemon squeezy

Lets not forget about the VIP helicopter that blew the barrier across the road and took out a few riders.

(Same pilot as the Trailseeker elephant incident ?)
