Still don't know what happened; I was slowing down because of a red traffic light and as I started to unclip she blew...

Is it possible to still save it? Or should I cut my losses?

Only thing I took out of this stupid situation: one should not stop at traffic lights...

Nope. Bin it. Why not take it back and see if it is quality related? Seems a bit strange for it to just blow...

I am going to contact the shop tomorrow and find out if that could be the case.

Surprised that it did not completely come apart.

Usually they do in that sort of situation, if it was not on a seam then I would have

thought it was just a side wall puncture.

Toss it.

That tyre looks brand new still. Take it back....

If they find a reason not to replace it, chuck it away. I would not trust it on a wheel.

What pressures were you riding at ?? I would definitely try for a warranty claim  .The bead area looks worn on both sides .I had a bead from a conti mtb tyre do this also

8.5 bar (the max). I am 94kg.

Glueless patch on the inside. I'd still ride it. As long as the tube isn't popping out I'd have no problems using it.

That's cool and all, but honestly not worth it... The ambulance ride will be way more expensive than the new Tyre...

^^^^ THIS. I'd take the tyre back, try and wangle a new one. If that fails, BUY a new one, then put less pressure into the one at the front. And also less pressure into the one at the back.

Yup, hoping for replacement, otherwise buy new one.

Will less pressure not increase chance for snakebites?

Lower pressure will increase snakebite risk, although the recommended max is 8,5 bar maybe run at 8 bar which is what I pump mine to and have not had snakebite problems and I'm a bit heavier than you.

If you're running 25c (if not, why not), you should experiment with lower pressures as they're faster as they produce less deflection (axle going up and down because of bumps). Sure, if you ride over a monster cat-eye @ 60kmh, you're asking for trouble. I find lower pressures kinder to my back and bum. I'm running 28c and 60psi front, 65psi rear (larger air volume = better pneumatic effect). Not planning on bunnyhopping a pavement though...

Looks likely could have been inflated without being properly on the rim - hanging over the edge in a spot - just speculation but I have managed to do something similar before - One hole and one weak looking spot... major brain fart on my part.

New tire is the next step.

Firstly kudos to you for not starting a “I need back up to social media bully some shop into giving me a new tyre” thread

But take it back to your shop, if for some reason they replace it, that’s a bonus and be sure to come brag about them.

If they don’t, it’s not worth the risk of riding on a repair that could blow at 60kph, not all blowouts happen as you are stopping unfortunately.
