Event Name: Nissan Trailseeker #4
When: 3 November 2018
Where: Cullinan, Gauteng
Category: MTB

The town of Cullinan will come to life when mountain bike thrill seekers overtake the town for the annual “diamond rush” that is NISSAN TrailSeeker. With winding single and dual tracks that are not normally accessible, trails are pristine and include river crossings as well. The longer routes may include some wildlife sightings, riding on the verge of a massive waterfall and through a cave!

What is the climbing like on the 70km route? Anyone done this race before that would know?

Close to 1000m gain. The climb to the tower was tough, long and rocky.

Thanks. I haven't done 70km before, so I am making sure I am ready before heading into a day of hell which could have been funner with the shorter option.

The 45Km ENX was 1000m this last weekend.  But I think 1000m might feel a bit different with an extra 20km's in the legs. But I have time to get a few long rides in before.

Apologies JK7 I was thinking of this weekends Lionman. Cullinan's gain was 754m on my Garmin. I found the Lionman much tougher than Cullinan. Was a bit technical just before the narrow gap between the rocks that I hardly fit through. Cannot recall any major climbing stress (unlike Lionman). Think it is an option as a first marathon.

Agreed. Cullinan is a good option for a first Marathon. The 70km route has some nice features and barring a few bumps doesn't have any major climbs. It does tend to get windy though and being in November may be a bit muddy. Some scenic bushveld riding.

I hope not .. all E Bikes should be banned from any MTB Race and park.....

So you don't want people that was previously unable, some with disability, to enjoy our sport?

Seems a bit harsh.

Its just a bike ... one that assists a little more than your normal pedal bike.

Not compete in the same category for time or positions ... absolutely, agreed.

(disclaimer, I dont own an e-bike)
