Your preferred method of "Getting up in the mornings"??

When I used to start work at 6am (in the UK) it was straightforward (although 6am in the UK in winter is pretty grim). Alarm at 5:15, up, kettle on, shower on, shower & dress, make and drink tea, leave home.

Getting up for 8:30 work start (Working in SA) is actually harder, because you fool yourself into thinking you have "so much more time to play with". Which actually you don't. For a start the traffic in many times worse.

Now in Spain I start work at 10am (I **** you not) and, would you believe, today I was almost late because of all my faffing around!

Which shows that it doesn't matter what time you start, you are either a "get to work on time easily" person or you're not.

Additionally, I can no longer sleep after 8ish without getting a headache.

Alarm has only awoken me 2 or 3 times in the last year .... always awake 15 to 45 minutes before the alarm is set to go off.

BUT, if I switch off the alarm I am awake 2 to 3 hours before the time, watching the time tick by ..... so the alarm is set, then snoozed just before I leave to work.

Yes...it's not just me lol

"Get up" made me think of wood  :offtopic:

One alarm. I despise the Snooze button, have never ever used it in my life. I have a backup alarm on a faraway table in our room which does not disturb the SO.

Go to bed earlier....

Haha thanks! Although I do go to bed early nonetheless, I am just a heavy sleeper. Going to try switch alarm types. currently it is just my phone. On my Tom Tom runner, when the 'alarm' goes off the watch vibrates on my wrist. Going to try that out, could be more effective.

Quite a few speak of 5am been early. I prep my kit and bike the night before, my alarm goes off at 4am, out the door by 4.20am to meet with the group at 4.45 then do an hour or so but try be back before 6am when the roads start to get busy.

...I am already in the office in Jhb @ 6am. I struggle every morning to get up but a 2 month does not have a snooze button. His schedule is 23:30 and 04:30 for his night feeds and diaper change.

That's when has not had injections or inoculations. Then the rules and schedule pretty much goes in the bin.

Let's not mess about with your pseudo lab coffee creator and go for the real deal.

"The clock turns on 10min before you are due to wake up and slowly sizzles frozen rashers beneath two halogen light bulbs. Its built-in fan then wafts the smell of sizzling bacon around your room to wake you up."

If that thing will heat up a croissant to put the bacon in, I would buy one today

There are two main schools of thought . . .

1) Set the alarm for the time you HAVE to get up, and when the alarm goes off - GET UP.

Pros: This gives you the MAX amount of sleep possible in the time allowed.

Cons: Can be a bit harsh first thing!

2) Set the alarm for a period of time BEFORE you have to get up, and enjoy the "Lay-in" before getting up.

Pros: You get to lay in before deciding to get up.

Cons: The Lay-in deprives you of some time you could have spent actually asleep.

Which works for you?

Ag, just rubbing my thighs together a couple of times works well.
