This is my first Sani. Iconic is keeping me up at night but it is also forcing me to train harder.

I think I will rather ride Iconic until I'm broken, and then walk, and then ride a bit more, and then walk again, but I'm not taking the chicken run. I'll make it even if I have to crawl!

As worriesnot said, it is a bit deceiving as halfway up it "flattens" out and you think okay cool all done and then the climbing kicks in again but agreed that first half is the hardest.

Compared to the short part of Breedts?

Asking because I have never done Sani before, and my husband is NOT a lover of the climbing.

I am chuffed about that, the logistics of having to hack up to the school to get your car, only to hack back down to the beach to then try and find parking and your partner etc (and in the rain last year) was painful.

The school is a lot better too in that there are several food and drinks stands where you can just chill post race which wasn't really the case at the beach.

Each to their own however.

Agree! Last year in the rain was the Pitts!

Getting the car was a ball ache...only did it once that way.

From then on booked at the Blue Marlin. Finish, swim in sea and straight to hotel.

Nice!

I remember it like it was yesterday.

I also thought it was all done after the first half, which was tough, and thought "not that bad as they were making it out to be" but then it just kept on going...

First half is definitely the hardest.

And the soil erosion doesn't make it any easier!

Aint no chicken run for Iconic. It starts at the bottom and ends at the top. Only way up is ride, walk or crawl.

My bad. Better to read the newsletter properly before commenting. Is indeed a chicken run. As you were

If with the short side you mean from farm/parking to top then, no, it's tougher than that.

More comparable with the back end of Breedts i.e. from shebeen to top. But then, also not the same.

Same same, but different  ;)

Guys what is going on with all the sani entries op for grabs? Jeez I remember a few years back that you had no chance of getting in.. And now all I see is entries for sale.

Nothing strange. Happens every year. Injuries, sickness, last minute commitments all taking a bite out of the few thousand original entries.

Big difference now however is that it's not just substitutions up for sale, only Adventure has sold out -so you could still get a spot for Trial and Race from organisers ie you are not reliant on waiting list or substitutions for an entry

Careful you don't burn all you matches on the climb. Lots more to come!

Sorry gents/gals

Do not know where to ask this question. My "bucket list" indicate I need to do the Sani 2 Sea sometime. See prices are coming down....

I do not understand the 3 disciplines that can be entered.

- Trail

- Race

- Adventure

This will be my 1st stage race.

Please help

spells T.A.R... coincidence? good luck with the race, and may it lead you to wilder rides too
