Who knows about these races are they worthwhile, trying to be careful what races I spend money on.

Have a look at the map (link on facebook page) - this looks like the most boring route you could ever imagine. "Ride the Vines" name is a clue - it just goes round and round some vineyards.

Doubt its worth wasting money on - unless you are a total beginner

That was sort of my thinking too

I did a couple of their run the vines events last year - very much catering to the beginner and unfit, I would assume their MTB addition is along the same lines.

Here this morning at the race.. looks well organised and is an important part of mtb/cycling, which is to get people on there bikes. It really has an aura of people and families out to enjoy cycling and does not matter which bike you are on. Saw everything from ebikes, full carbon sus, 26ers, makro specials, and even a halfwheeler. I really hope that this event continue to grow and get more and more people introduced to cycle.

Nice play area for kids, some food stalls and nice vibe music, and a secure bike park.

Feedback on the route a bit later...

Geez guys, this event may not cater to everyone, but it does cater to many. Let's not slate the people actually putting in their time and money organising these events - it advances the sport we love, even if not technical enough for your level of riding.

Fair enough to give comment that it may be more suited to beginners, but certainly a d$ck move to slate the event.

To those participating, enjoy it!

Fully agree with you, here is holding thumbs that the event continue to grow and provide a place for all that love mtbing.

My sense was really it is riders that wants to also be part of the riding community and the organisers should be supported.

Changed my mind think if I am able to at the next ride to get an entry, just for the joy of a nice ride on beautiful farms with the family.

Agreed

These kind of events are perfect for introducing kids and novices as well as proving a great day out for the family

So there was about 200 participants today, with the goal to build up the event to 400, next one is in August at Welbedacht, and hope to see even more riders there.  It is a great event for families and get an introduction to the sport.

It was really a lovely event. Well organised.

Route not very inspiring for "advanced riders or race snakes", but it was good for those who it was aimed at. No major climbs, but there was one or two testers. No real technical sections, and any section that could pose a problem, was well marked. No single track at all, but still a lovely route among the vineyards and Olive groves.

I enjoyed it, congrats to the organizers.
