You telling me, I am working on that magical 1000 post badge, already starting to plan that post (but knowing myself it might actually just come and go without me realising it has passed)

At this stage, I'm precluded from buying anything on the Hub from you :w00t:

A common modus operandi is to do production overruns on the molds. As in: supplier buys twice the amount of raw material and delivers only what the customer ordered. They then offset the rest in the local market, and through online sites.

Of all the rubbish spoken on the Internet, this must rate up there with the best.

There are literally thousands of factories in China that make Carbon products, only a very, very select few will ever be selected to partner with high-end global brands and there is NO way that these businesses will threaten their contracts by doing "production overruns" and selling the product out the back door.

Think about it just for one minute. Specialized spend millions tracking and closing down sellers of counterfeit product. Do you really think that if the guys making their frames are competing with them that they would not IMMEDIATELY take steps to halt it, including removing their manufacturing from their factory?

But what do I know, I have only been doing business out of China for 14 years and am currently involved in a business that brings in R500m of product from China.

Reasonable and critical thought takes effort. We have become lazy in how we argue.

We form opinions and make statements, then we try to find supporting facts to back it up. Should be the other way around.

There is nothing different between a "fake" and the average chinese carbon frame. The one is just sprayed with branding. NO other difference. How do I know this? I ride a chinese hardtail since 2012. Many races and Trans Baviaans' later, still 100%. The factory I bought it from can supply you the same frame painted as a Specialized Stumpjumper. Apart from the paint, no difference. So please don't try make it sound as if a "fake" is a category on its own.

Sorry bra, I've experience fake first hand. 'Fake' **** would put the original brand out of business if there was no difference.

By the way, virtually all carbon components are made in China, the difference being reputable Chinese brands make quality stuff to protect their brand while the fraudsters make k@k to fleece everyone and make money.

Then the fakes would become the originals and other companies would make fakes of fakes

I've chatted with the OP and the seller offline. Both have intimated that they won't engage on this thread and prefer to seek resolution offline.

With this in mind, there is little value in allowing speculation and off-topic discussion to continue here.

I will take the final opportunity to remind everyone of our zero-tolerance policy on fakes.

Bottom line: If it's a fake it's not welcome on Bike Hub Classifieds.

Anyone posting a fake item for sale, whether this is disclosed or not will have their account permanently suspended and their details will be handed over to the relevant local agent.

I have opened a new topic to more broadly discuss the topic of fakes and encourage those engaged in the debate here to participate in the new thread
