Spez power saddle

Hi all, so am thinking of getting one of these power saddles, on long rides i get some numbness in my right foot, thinking it may be as a result of some blood flow restriction caused by my current saddle.

These saddles have been out for a while and was just interested to know if the peeps that have used them rate them.

The design is apparently to allow blood flow and stop compression of nerves etc.

What you say hubbers ?

As mentioned - it's unlikely (but not impossible) that a numb foor is caused by saddle. Maybe your shoes are too small/big/tight/loose, cleats in wrong position.

Regardless of the above - the power saddles are super comfy if bought in the right width.

more likely its your shoes or your cleats

numb ass - saddle

numb foot - shoe

numb hands - core

Could be something in that, my shoes are pretty old, (spez) likely need to be replaced soon anyway.

Cleat on that side doesnt feel off in any way.

Maybe shoe too tight over top of foot, but havent felt numb foot on LHS and have tried loosening shoe a bit, no difference really, numb feeling in right foot only.

This sounds like a good enough reason to get one anyway, need all the comfort I can get on a ride.

Been riding a power saddle for a year now, towards the end of long rides, 4 hours + bum gets numb :whistling: . Otherwise really good saddle. My 2c, saddles are a personal thing, keep testing until you find the one.

Keep in mind that ones body also changes over time.

"The one" may not always be "the one".

I'm also currently searching, so good luck to us both. :)

your feet arent the same size - neither are your hands - so your shoe is already a tiny bit tighter on the right - just a thought

old shoes can start to stretch in the wrong places you tighten them- then there is pressure where it wasnt before or it shouldnt be

cleats wear down and out and your position moves even tho you dont think it has

i still doubt its your saddle but guys seem to like these power saddles so buy one anyways- you are unlikely to be worse off after getting it ^_^

although i have never been in one ....spez concept dealers will give you a test saddle to try before you buy ...im told :whistling:

I don't think you'll regret it. I've ridden the power saddle a lot (I have 3 of them on different bikes), and it is super comfy - I use the carbon shell version with the thinner padding.

In my experience it has reduced a lot of the chafing and pressure points I used to get, particularly on the tandem where you seem to sit a lot heavier than you do on a single bike.  Having said that it is a saddle on which you tire differently (after many hours), and I sometimes find myself feeling a bit sluggish like I cant get my heavy legs round the lip of the saddle quite enough to spin completely freely.

My power saddle cuts of blood supply, after an hour I cant sit on it anymore. Feels like I am sitting on something sharp and my butt and hammies go's numb. Got a phenom pro and selle Italia that much better. Rather test that powersaddle first

How long is Long?

If you think its blood flow, simply stand for few seconds, if goes away, then its saddle. If don't go away, curl your toes for few seconds to release pressure on bottom of your feet, if goes away, then shoe issue (pressure point).  Does numbness happen more on climbing?

My guess is bad insole creating pressure point restricting flow or shoes gone soft and creating cleat pressure .

So my Power saddle is specified on my insurance. If something happens to my bike its the 1st replacement part on my new bike.

It works for me. But then again it might not work for everyone.

For anyone considering the Spaz Power saddle, I'd also suggest the Farr saddle.  It's a similar size and shape, but I find it comfier than the Power saddle.  It's a lot cheaper too.  I have them on my road and MTB bikes and am happy.  I've used them for nine hour rides and been comfy (as comfy as you can be after being in the saddle for that long.

I ride a Spez Power saddle, and won't ride anything else if I can help it. Suits me like no other saddle.

+1 on the previous suggestion of a bike fit too - I'd rate that as more important than the saddle. If you can only do one, do the bike fit.
