It might be far fetched to make a fuss about a sock pattern design, but I do think Woolworths are missing an opportunity by not utilizing local suppliers for these types of products when we can have them adding that value inside of the country.

Get around a table and discuss a price and product quality that satisfies both parties and presto you grow Sexy Sox to a major manufacturer.

Think retailers are very quick to jump on the China train to get their goods in on the cheap, but at what cost to our country.

You know when you are thinking about buying a certain type of new car. And you suddenly start seeing that type of car all the time?

I haven't seen a Ferrari in ages :P

I don't think people will buy WW socks, or any other brand, based purely on design. People will consider what quality they are getting at a price point.

So, as the owner of Sexy Socks, if your product adds more value (either in terms of better quality at a similar price point or lower quality but at a reduced price), you should have nothing to worry about.

Get your value proposition right, and no 'copying of designs' will impact on your business.
