Think it had to do with the number of conflicts with other races (w2w, origins of trails, etc.) but that is just speculations, coupled that last year it was during Dec which may have impacted on number of participants

I think everyone is still around then. Not school holidays just yet, still weeks before Christmas... Are those other races you mentioned scheduled for early December?
