I am in 2 minds bout the 3 pm games being televised. A lot of clubs rely on bums in seats and I reckon they will suffer if the games are televised. On the other hand Darren, if they share in the TV money then maybe it could be to their benefit. But we know only the top leagues will benefit financially and my local teams will be poorer.

I like going out to watch live football on a Saturday. I go watch mighty saints or local non league teams. Aldershot, Woking, Guildford city. Proper grass roots football which is damn competitive and I dare say my local 9th league Guildford city would probably give bafana bafana a run for their money. The vibe at the grounds is awesome.

Rampant professionalism has certainly raised the level of the game, certainly has opened avenues for sportsman and women but there is a downside to it. We are also being over exposed to football these days. On all the time. And that somehow is not a good thing. When I was a lad, trips to local matches (Anderlecht) were the highlights of my life. That magic is disappearing.

But maybe, and most likely, I am just an old romantic fart and must get with the program.
