why do you wear brown socks to work?

Work and formal attire, socks should match the suit or pants and if the suit or pants are of a lighter shade then socks may match the shoes. Ie in semi formal work wear pale chinos and brown shoes would require brown socks.

Thomas Fink has a rather useful guide to being a gentleman in the modern world, called the man's book. Worth a read.

I disagree!

With suiting, the belt should match the shoes, only ever close the top button on the blazer (custom blazers should only have one button), have the cuff of the shirt sticking out by 2cm and show a little sock. If you are a plain sock guy then so be it, but the socks show personality!

Back to cycling most good looking/designer socks here will set you back about €15 a pair. With the Rand taking a blow from the Ramapocolips it is silly to buy imported socks. Buy local and be lekker. Versus and Finni make awesome socks!

I think I'm going to wear my Versus coffee socks next time I wear chinos and brown shoes.

B

100% agree

But with socks and personality I will quote the What a time to be alive FB page...

"Birds-eye Brad

25 years old and without any particular hobbies, Brad is battling to remain relevant. After already confusing wearing Happy Socks with having a personality to no avail, and being asked by his parents if he has heard of Spotify after coming home with a record player, Brad is now at the point where he has to pull a Playboy bunny out the hat if he hopes to ever get likes on social media again.

With Stormy Daniels already stealing his idea of claiming having had sex with Trump, Brad goes for the second best thing girls fantasise about: Guys with a wannabe drone-photography career.

Brad isn’t your Movember-moustache-growing, Tiger Tiger fist pumping jock though- drones are far too commercial for a flat white drinker like him. Keep your cappuccinos, we are talking about a guy that has cracked black pepper with his smashed avo, no pepper grinder here, cracked…with an artisanal Balinese peppercorn cracking stone!

So there will be no Phantom 4 drone ordered on Amazon, only one drone of desire from the betties when they see his GoPro Hero 5million Edition strapped to his kite. And you must watch out gents because this kite has a bamboo frame that makes the betties legs go lame. And a long enough rope to make the stekkies want to poke. Might as well call that camera the GoVrou because that’s the only thing the ladies are going to want to do after he blows up on Insta with a #BirdsEyeView #DroneForWho

The weekend comes and a stiff North-Easter is all Brad aka Google Earth needs to launch the surveillance. After tripping over a few bait boxes and only being accused of being a pervert twice by near-by tanners, he has the footage he needs. A mere 3 hour editing shift on his Mac later and Big Brother has carefully concealed under beach umbrellas all the fishermen pulling in under sized shad.

With aerial ammo like this on Instagram, eye-in-the-sky Brad is no doubt going to get a full quota of fish himself.
