Looking for knee pads for #enduro

I'm looking to replace my current leatt knee pads as they forever sliding down and the Velcro is knackered... overall I'm not impressed so I'm thinking along the lines of POC, IXS OR whatever else you gravity hubbers are using?

Need to be comfy and be able to ride with them on from the car to the trail head. I'm situated in the Helderberg but don't mind making a mission stellies or tokai side or anywhere else that there is a trail near by.

Ion's prices have come down in line to be similar to competitors, and their knee pads with the zipper are brilliant. A mate of mine bought his at BMT in stellies.

Fit is crucial with protection, they need to be comfortable for long rides, and stay put when being crashed on. For me the Leatt is my go-to, but it is very personal. I reckon I'm lucky to be of the same as whoever they did their sizing on.

Go to BMT and order a pair of Ion K-pact Zip knee pads and try them on.  They are really comfy and climb very well.  When it is really hot I put them in my hydration pack and put them on before the decent.  They zip up so there is no need to take off your shoes but most of the time I just put them on when I start riding because they do not bother me when climbing.

Just don't put them on by placing them over your knee and trying to zip it up.  Move it down over your shins, zip it up and then slide them up.  Seems logical but I know of some people that complained that it is difficult to get them on because they tried to zip it up over the knee.

I think they sell for something like R1200 now, that is about R75 less that what the new Leatt knee pads go for.

Hi Andre, I've got a extra pair of POC Air lite....comfortable and nice for summer rides. But you will need to fit it as its a little to big for me...so whatsapp me and maybe we can arrange for you to check them out. I live in Stellenbosch but my bikes are at hanger Bike Co for service, so can meet you there...?

send me a `pm for cell number.

cheers

Got the zipper ion pads. Amazing. Especially when zipping them off at the end of a ride without pulling out half your sweaty leg hair.

As Myless said the K-pact Zips are supposed to be great and those / the Sam Hill ones are top of my list for replacing the ol' Leatt Air Flex Pro's. Sill my main go to's are my never-dying-661-Kyle-Strait pads as they will survive a nuclear war and are super comfy but they are big and they are hot. The Leatts on the other hand are light, flexy, breathable and TBH I've never had to put them to the test but I'm not sure how much they are going to save you when it goes wrong.
