Mixing groupset components

Hi, is it possible to mix a Truvativ elite triple chain crank with a Campag Veloce 10 speed shifter set, a Shimano 105 RD5800 11 speed r/ derailleur and a Shimano Ultegra 5800 front derailleur?

My LBS says not possible but looking to build a cheap commuter with parts I already have on a old giant Tcr 2008 c2 frame. If anyone can suggest a decent Bikeshop that can fit the above in joburg, would appreciate it.

No decent bike shop is going to fit this for you, because it won't work.

You may have some luck checking for part swaps in the "i have something you need" or asking for parts in the "salvage" threads, just label it accordingly, both are exclusive.

Yeah, try it. I have seen some funny combos actually work

Absolutely, it would be cheap to try. Why not. I think the Campag doesn't really go with anything but campag. But you never know. I did 11 speed SRAM MTB shifter with SLX 11 speed derailleur and works perfectly.

Also seen 11 speed shimano shifter and derailleur work well with 10 speed cassette. 10 Speed SRAM MTB shifter and 10 speed derailleur work well with 9 speed cassette.

Think about it. The shifter ( sti/ergo) determines the amount of movement the RD makes. The RD is limited by the range it moves up and down (width).

The derailleur also matters. They have different triangles and move differently when pulled the same amount.

the pull ratios are different and that's what the Shiftmate corrects

Shiftmate can't fix Campag compatibility with Shimano. The Campag shifters don't pull the same for all gears.
