No article or threads on Bike Hub?!?!? As an event its about as far removed from the W2W as you can get, but still deserves some reportage here I think...Admin?

Lacondeguy definitely got robbed!

Ya, I feel you but I've tried in previous years before and interest was very poor. And there's not much we can do but replicate (rather poorly) what's available in large quantities elsewhere on the internet. It's just me vs the world, so I need to pick my battles. But now there's this thread!

I thought this years event was a real spectacle. I think the spacious venue made the rider's lines more interesting and the newcomers and old guard put on quite a show.

I find watching this event inspirational. The insights into the rider's hopes and fears that you glean from the interviews and social media generated by the event are very interesting.

I found Fairclough's boulder line about the most natural and gnarly of the lot. The rock reminded me of the big boulder roll on The Plumber at Jonkershoek only 10x (110x?) harder and more scary. Silva's massively long drop was radical - pity he fluffed it up at the end. Visually, I liked Nell's 3rd Place run. Camera work on Andreu's run was poor but he may well have deserved the win. Rheeder has all the style but I would have put him second or third.

Biggest disappointment after Zink pulling out was Semenuks failure to complete a run.

Fully Agree. I also reckon Brendog was harshly scored by the Judges, definitely deserved better.

I missed the other thread, thanks for combining them.

When the guys were all crashing in the beginning, I was fearing that this might be the year that someone dies.

They didn't get much practice time and if they repeat the venue next year, I suspect we'll see things go next level. I'm looking at you, Adolf Silva.

So did I. Chit Chat is a very strange place that I prefer not to visit regularly.

Watching Lacondeguy's run again, I can't help but think he should have won. And then, I asked myself why Rheeder won, instead.

Rheeder, though he didn't put together as many tricks with the same danger / difficulty level, and wasn't as blisteringly fast, was far smoother. Where AL was letting it all hang loose and trying to slash to slow himself down, Rheeder was smooth and controlled (not saying AL wasn't, but his roosting was far higher than Rheeder's was) and then the over-rotation on the last 360 I think was the major docking point.

BUT. I think AL's was the run of the day. That drop of Adolf's, though... HOLYFECKBALLS.

I don't know how to post IG videos here, unfortunately. But there was a video or two Ty McCaul posted of practicing his big drop... Yoh... From up top it looked like he was in the air for a good few seconds. My heart was in my mouth just watching.

After one of his Crankworx runs I commented to Rheeder on IG that watching him ride was like watching water flow. He is so liquid and so smooth and I think the judges love that about him. (He actually thanked me for my comment too which pleased me no end)

Lancondeguy was robbed..... It was like watching the Dead Presidents calmly roam the bank, leave the vault and hit only the cash drawers....

I could just picture Jonny Utah shooting his gun off into the air screaming when Rheeder got it...........

I will say that if AL had finished his second run, I think the first two podiums would have been reversed.

ya, I actually got up from my chair to allow my jaw to fall even further. I really thought he was about to end himself. I've never seen someone do such a fuggin giantic drop. Sure, fes Tour has massively wide jumps, but this is fall off the edge into infinity, Heimdall kicking you off the bifrost instead of sending you via the portal... kind of stuff.

and his mother was just beaming.. basejumping without a bag. so proud.
