I don't think Iran deserves any credit for their "honesty". Quite the opposite.

Iran admitted to it only after Ukranian and perhaps other foreign officials sent to investigate the crash scene, determined that it had been caused by a missile shoot down. Iran had already done their best to cover it up, first with denials and claims that it was a technical issue and then later, bulldozing the wreckage into piles which is totally against international accident investigation protocols. Unfortunately for them, the Ukrainians and news reporters had already taken several pictures of shrapnel damage to the skin of the aircraft. In short Iran had no choice but to confess.

Oh, I get what you are saying, but by comparison both the USA and Russia had stuck to denying their own proven involvement in similar incidents. For years! To this day! In the face of evidence! Never admitted their mistakes, never tried to make it right, never accepted responsibility. Always just denied or shifted the blame. At least Iran has done that. And within days. I'll give them some credit for that part.

put in the hub classifieds. Mark as mint condition. Will sell quick.

LOL maybe as a joke I should do that. They actually are in pretty mint condition, tbh. Despite the fairly high hours, they well maintained.

3 of the spare APUs they mention are in my shop(well all 4 are actually) and are newly overhauled from the repair vendor. They have not been fitted to an aircraft since overhaul. The 4th one was removed last year for preservation and long term storage as the aircraft stopped flying.

Advertise them as generators on the load shedding thread, I hear Wannabe needs one    Then you can really impress the neighbors!

LOL. I actually did consider bidding for an APU but rumor has it they at least want to get the repair cost back and the repair cost per APU was about $1 million. I was thinking I could pick it up cheap cheap.

It says viewing of aircraft can be arranged. Could be a lovely day out crawling all over planes taking pictures! :-)

Yeah it could. So the spare APUs and Engines are in my workshop and to date we havent had anyone come through to look so either there is little to no interest or they will all come viewing on 1 day together. Apparently Lufthansa is interested in the A340-600s and their spares as they still flying some of them and the OEMs are no longer making stuff for those aircraft.
