Hell.....in that pic there was a forest once where I grew up.....

And... is that a yellow Concorde?

That's when it came out for high altitude tests in 1973 ... in fact  I saw that one land from that very spot, the viewing platform on the old (then new) International Terminal. Futher fact: I cycled 30 k's there, as a lightie does, to see the action.

That is looking to the south east south.

LWB there used to be a Constellation (or Super Constellation) parked in the back of the Technical areas where you give the engines a good blow, it is still there?

717 wtf ... where did that see the light of day. Besides that its just the 777 that I haven't flown in.

Firstly, Thanks for all those awesome pics. WOW ORT has changed a lot.

AFAIK the 717 was actually a MD-80 that Boeing dubbed the 717 when they bought Macdonald Douglas. So like you say, it never really saw the light of day as a 717.

LOL I was just about to respond to your constellation pic about it. No. It was donated/bought by some museum or something a few years back. I remember when they moved it. Removed the wings and stuck it all on a flat bed.

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be, right?

Actually I like to see those old colour schemes resurrected for BA's commemorative year. And $1m apiece is peanuts for the marketing budget anyway.

Michael O'Leary gets Ryanair noticed by pissing off passengers and the EU commissioners. BA has chosen to remind people of a grand era of flight.

Then technically, I have flown as a passenger on the MD-80 when Kulula still had them around.
