JK7 Posted January 13, 2019 Share Hi Anyone with this watch experience wildly incorrect (under reading by 70%) elevation gains? It doesn't have a manual calabrate option for the barometer or GPS. Any suggestions? Did plenty of reviews before buying, and all the reviews showed altimeter worked well. I do now see plenty of issues on Reddit about it though. thisismyotherbike Posted January 13, 2019 Share My Gamin Fr235 and edge 810 shows less than Strava. FR235 doesn't have a Barometer. 810 does.

JK7 Posted June 29, 2019 Share Will go and ask them to do the same. Such a pain to correct it every time.
ACM Posted June 29, 2019 Share Garmin replaced my Vivoactive 3 because of wildly inaccurate elevation readings. It's a known issue with these modelsIs the replacement any better? My son & I both bought the VivoActive 3 and both are so far from accurate; it’s not even relevant to look at elevation.
TheBritishTwit Posted June 29, 2019 Share I unfortunately seem have the opposite issue on My Fenix 3 and it's mostly on runs, Cycling isn't as badly affected. Should I do a run, the watch will pick up and elevation gain of a few 1000 when I have only climbed a few 10's or 100's of meters (Benoni is a rather flat area to do any sports in). I read that putting the watch in lukewarm water with some dish washing liquid help address this issue and clean out the Barometer sensor so I will may try that at some stage and see if it makes a difference however I don't have high hopes for that. IceCreamMan Posted June 30, 2019 Share Vivoactive does not have an altimeter afaik this it will not be accurate. Surprised Garmin replaced it. I just correct it in Strava. No biggie.

No biggie. It dies have a barometer. Same as my old Suunto Observer. But 5800 meter altitude gain on a 10km bike ride is pretty impressive. So yes it’s a biggie because it’s simply faulty. Dirkitech Posted July 1, 2019 Share Garmin replaced my Vivoactive 3 because of wildly inaccurate elevation readings. It's a known issue with these modelsMay I ask if it was a warranty replacement or out of warranty with a pay in difference? Mine has been doing the same since the colder months started
