Hey Guys

Im going for a weekend away with some mates near Ceres in the Groot Winterhoek nature reserve

And as much as i like to sit and talk **** around the fire i would also dig to take my bike for some rides

Does anyone know of any trails in the area i could make use of?

Here is the exact location i will be staying at:

Thanks in advance!

Luke

um, no "trails" to speak of.

that is a secret little valley called Witzenberg, the place you're going to used to be called Visgat.

Dr Evil claims to have discovered it for the Epic one year!

There are plenty of farm roads in the area, some of them tar.

I'm not sure what sort of distance you're planning, but if you really really need to do lots, and are quite quick then do some sleuthing and speak to these guys who live there

Or load your bike in the Bakkie and go out of the valley, further up the road to Op-die-Berg. There are trails at Kaleo and at Houdenbek. Houdenbek trails get my vote, so much so that we go there as a group of mates and make a weekend out of it once a year. (We should do that again.)

if you want a work out ride down dasklippas to porterville for a coffee and ride back up some of its tar but it will get your juices flowing

it is awesome up there but there are only roughish dirt roads up on winterhoek

He's not actually at Groot winterhoek, about 10kms as the crow flies, but

about a 4 hour round trip in the car there to porterville!

on second viewing that is a bit further than 20min to Esels

Okay maybe 25min...no Traffic, or traffic lights...maybe 1.. Esel's got some really fantastic trails and well worth the 25min drive...Enjoy
