eddie.lubbe Posted April 19, 2019 Share A few years ago there was a similar thread, but given developments in pedals, what brand do you prefer?

DJR Posted April 19, 2019 Share For Mtb - Shimano. https://www.outsidepursuits.com/best-mtb-pedals/ Have had anything from the bottom of the range to XTR. I now stick to lower and mid range ones. They save me money, work just as well and last longer than the top of the range ones. The Shimano pedals just keep on working and hardly ever cause any problems. I fit them, ride and forget about them. bullet77, ChrisF and Pusher
BaGearA Posted April 19, 2019 Share Shimano, crank Brothers use brass cleats that wear out super fast and as soon as you get A pedal strike those pedals will never be the same Look are good, s-tracks are nice but can't be serviced by yourself and the x-tracks are just Shimano with a fancy paint job Xt pedals in what ever model are pretty bombproof
River Rat Posted April 19, 2019 Share Rode with Candys and Mallets for about 5 years they were fantastic especially in the mud and they allowed for a bit of lateral movement which meant that you can find your pedal/foot alignment almost by default. However the cleats wear very quickly and the pedals need constant maintanance, the cost eventually got to me and I switched to a Shimano trail pedal. I immediatly found that the alignment of my foot on the pedal was an issue and it took a bit of trial and error to get it right. Now it's sorted and I don't miss the Candys except in the mud but I do miss the versatility of the Mallets on the enduro rides but not enough to switch back to the cost. DieselnDust Posted April 19, 2019 Share I prefer the engagement of crankbros but the low maintenance of Shimano. I guess it's called TIME A. T. A. C

Shimano wins this on functionality, durability and cost.
