I'm hoping DD does the business today/this tour - far fewer World Tour teams here and hopefully a win will lift some spirits.

 

Conversely - if they lose here it aint gonna be good!

When Dlamini is controlling the pace/break for kms on end by himself then you know it's not hammer time!

Breakaway takes the stage win, Cav came 8th in the race for minor positions.... something for DD at least with a top 10...

He is the only big name sprinter there, they had one job to do 1.

 

But only I think 3 WT teams there so sharing the workload reeling in the break was a bit challenging, and the weather was really bad..

From what I saw of the race only Ineos (sky) tried to real in the break (full team on the front) Katusha were there briefly, Astana were no where to be seen and DD only had 2 riders left to try to protect Cav for the last 30kms or so...... weather and route finish helped the break away.

 

Unlikely for DD to get anything else as next 3 stages are all hilly

This is also true..a half hearted attempt.

Another DD damp squib. They had it all covered with 1km to go and 2 men ahead of Cav. Cav then decides to let his own guys go and float wheels. Then he gets swamped from behind and cruises across the line.

 

Come on man. Google "sprint train" or something...

Cav was never going to sprint he was looking for an excuse not to from 1km to go. Getting boxed in, letting his train go, letting the wheels he pretended to search for go (twice), this guy is full of excuses... Missile??? Wet limp noodle is a better name.

 

I think DD is his retirement plan. Needs to hand in his wings as he has lost the edge. No longer Top Gun.
