I am Not a person who looks for Hand outs or Takes anything for granted.

 

All I ask is IF Anyone is traveling past Barrydale.

Please I need a new Gear Cable and I have Cash.

 

Now as the bicycle is bust, I can not get back to Cape Town.

 

I will then need to find a lift back.

 

Feeling very upset.

I have not managed to get hold of anyone.

Nobody in Town has Bike spares.

Yes there is shops in the neighboring towns.

 

On top of everything, the rain has arrived.

EDIT: just in case you struggle opening the vid I took some screenshots of the major steps.

1: downshift all the way and remove the cable from the shifter/hood

2: remover it from the rear derailleur too.

3: re-insert the cable at the back so the head that would go in the shifter, now sits inside the barrel adjuster of the derailleur.

4: choose a gear...probably around mid cassette and fix the cable in place like you would usually.

5: use the barrel adjuster as usual to make sure the chain doesnt skip on the rear.

 

i have done this before on a mtb. it will at least get you going

To be fair, I've never ridden with a spare cable... However it makes sense that they're not exactly snap proof... Will see how I can put one on the bike somewhere... Maybe in the seat tube?

I managed to buy a derailleur from the chinese shop in montagu the other day.

 

a)karoo dorpies have bike spares in places you wouldn't think exist. try chinese supermarkets.

c)go to ok supermarket

 

d)ask around...there will be someone with a gear cable

e)make it singlespeed. assuming it is read derrailleur, then just get the chain into one of the middle cogs, and use your front derrailleur to set between big and small ring.

I have received a New Cable.

Busy with repairs.

Cable Snapped and the END got Jammed inside the Lever. Managed to remove the END with a Leatherman.
