Crash in Durbanville

I believe a rider had to be evacuated from a trail in Durbanville late yesterday afternoon after a jump went wrong and he went off the side or the trail

Anyone knows if the rider is OK by any chance?

Why am I assuming this happened during the EWC event at Hoogekraal?

That place is notorious for putting people in hospital. (talking from personal experience).

nope. although there were 2 (i believe ) proper offs.

Seems to be an occurence every weekend now - maybe they should just leave a helicopter with medics on standby on the Hoogekraal parking area every weekend.

Are these on the "Black trails"  :whistling:

Also heard that a cyclist was killed on the road, somewhere in Durbanville. Crushed by a bus or something equally horrific.

I see someone falls and it's the trails fault now???? Durbanville only has Conties as a serious black line the rest is all relatively easy.

The trail builders keep the trails in good shape.

It's about riding in your limits and thinking a little more. Yes sh#t happens, lekker plot gekoop by Hoogies the other weekend it's part of mountain biking.

Hope the chap makes a full recovery soon.

Not sure. But sounds like the rider will make a full recovery.

The one at the top, just after the drop-off?

I was eyeing that thing on Saturday, and went "naaaaaah, it's okay".

I like my limbs in one piece. (again, experience).

On a more serious slant, strongs to the rider. Hope he heals fully.

While we're on the topic of Bloemendal - Lombard's Terra;

I see they have made some changes to the line, by turning the gap's to tables. It has definitely made me faster down that line, but I was kinda liking that largish semi-gap half way down just before the rock garden. It has now also been tabled, and now I approach it entirely differently, and it has taken the "fear factor" down by a good couple of notches, which in my mind has either made it "easier", at the risk of more folks hurting themselves when they hit that line without the requisite skill set, or has taken away my skills progression when attempting to ride the line correctly, which I did not manage every time, but had a nett effect of improving my skills and confidence when approaching similar lines elsewhere.

I am however stoked to see that Bloemendal is getting more of a bike-park vibe going, and this means one can spend a morning on the farm without having to venture elsewhere when you're not in the mood for a long slog. The new line being formed on Homeward bound is looking lekker.

(the anti-berm squad will have to bow out and go ride Conties black line)
