Can anyone point me in a direction where I can do long climbs on MTB in cape town area?

I know tokai mast climb is there but the weight of my Assault rifle, 4 cans of pepper spray , 2 samurai swords and 3 tazers are getting me down and want to ride somewhere "safer"

Went up there this morning, without all that doomsday crap, and had a ball. There is security Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends, (I think) paid for by a group of local shops and organisations (if I name one, I will forget others), and there hasn't been an incident in a very long time. Properly good climb.

Hoogekraal, besides the spykers hill climb to the cobra and the one out of the cobra. Hit up trail z and you will be left with a nice climb back to the top

Im afraid we need more than that :) but thanks!

Thats our usual weekend ride and we want to change it up a bit

Another tough one is Helderberg up to the cellphone towers.  It's pretty steep, but has amazing views.

You can then take a track that connects all the way down which is really fun and not too difficult.

How long is long? Does gradient count?

Well we want to do climbs that take longer than 15mins to complete. We find ourselves doing races prepping for W2W and we do these long ass climbs and we think the world has come to an end...

Do a Strava search, should be able to find one there.

Why do you not do hill repeats on a climb like Dorstberg? Go up the jeep track, come down the single track slowly till where it crosses the jeep track, and do the climb again. Did this as prep for the J2C, worked like a charm.

I know of a 5.1km climb, avg gradient 11%, steepest part touched 41%.Quickest time up there is just shy of 42 minutes.

We were lucky to have ridden it once, as it is on private land.

Hans se Kop from Grabouw is also a winner for a long climb.  Plus you can have a pie at Peregrine.  Win.

I do the Tokai mast plus Noordhoek peak fairly regularly which is good for climbing.

I have done Tokai mast multiple times this year with no issues...

you aren't gonna get anything as long (with consistent gradient) in CT area.

Paarl Mountain.Been there once ,enjoyed it

Yiip!! There are three or four climbs that can take you from town up 500-600m within 10km up into the mountain reserve. Combine them all with some of the other trails = an easy 3000m of climbing in 100km.
