Piers Morgan is a buffoon..I wouldn't listen to him if we were the last people left on the Earth. To say that because we are historically tribalistic has some influence on our modern day thinking after 2 centuries of education is just stupid.. No I didn't carry on listening after that

Sounds like he would make a good Nat....I dont read or listen to that crap

Not sure about 2 centuries of education and your faith in it's salutary effect on the human animal.

In Europe the enlightenment led us to believe that a human being is a rational creature ruled by reason.

The next thing that happened was the 20th century which made such claims dubious to say the least -  2 world wars, the holocaust, Stalins purges and further afield the Khmer Rouge plus the middle east and on and on and on.

We might call it tribalism or perhaps the innate tendency of groups of people to define themselves in opposition to other groups or maybe that the brute that we are is not really tamed by the "johnny come lately" (at least in evolutionary terms) that is higher reason but I'm not convinced that the brutal beast that is a human being is tamed.

We're overly enamoured of our ability to reason - it's great for building bridges and clever machines but a lot of the time I see the the parts of the brain that aren't thinking having a stronger hand on the tiller.

That doesn't make him any less of a buffoon?

Don't know him or his stuff at all. But dismissing him put of hand may be part of the phenomenon he's talking about in the quoted clip.

He has a history of bring opinionated and assumptive about people. I don't disagree with everything he says... But I prefer not to listen to him

Maybe listen to what he says in that video before dismissing it.

I can’t stand the man either, but I think he makes some valid points in that interview.

Well, then you should try reading Francis Fukuyama. You may find Morgan is not that far from the truth.

Piers Morgan is a tabloid bottom feeder and has no credibility commenting on this topic.

The rest here seems to be men complaining that this is a mountain made out of a molehill. I think I'll take the women's side of the story for now then,

Except he wasn’t commenting on this topic at all.

He was talking about cancel culture, snowflakes and online bullying.

Perhaps the person who posted this clip applied the wrong logic to the #MeToo topic.

I certainly can not agree with calling somebody a snowflake for getting upset that a strange man slapped her bum.

Maybe men should just stop slapping random girls bums, doesn’t sound too difficult.

Eldron's guide to treating women:

Before you make your big move imagine how you would feel if someone did exactly what you're about to do to your sister, wife, mother or daugther.

Of course this won't stop actual psycopaths but if the above rule was applied it would solve 99.999999% of problems.

To be fair time spent on listening to almost anyone else would be better spent than sifting through that tabloid ranting narcissist's babbleshyte looking for gems.

What kind of liberal people do you hang out with that have such a wide target range?

I have a beautiful wife and daughter

I also have a shotgun,

a spade,

and an alibi

I don't need a Shotgun, I have a sidecutter. And hopefully the story will spread about what happens to you if hurt Philip's daughter.

No wife but a gorgeous daughter - and she looks after herself pretty well. I think these feelings of imagining violence against perpetrators of ill against her are largely a defense against feeling powerless in the face of the pains life inflicts on those we love and are charged and perhaps even biologically programmed to protect.

Back in the day when I used to play fiercely competitive reserve league cricket the slips would invariably make some cheesy chirp or other about the batsman's mother. It was accepted wisdom that as a batter you were outnumbered and the best thing to do was to feign deafness. I wasn't very good at this and would often get into sledging matches with some wicketkeeper or bowler.

One such charmer, who had dropped a catch a few overs before, allowing me to carry on batting said something that implied he had had sex with my mother the night before. I told him that this couldn't be the case because she would have taught him better manners. And probably how to catch too!

We cyclists don't seem to have this aspect to our sport though.

One of my favourite chirps from those days though was a team mate who was often teased by the rest of our team because he was of diminutive stature. A really fierce bowler and a good bat though. One Saturday we were kitting up and someone asked him what he would do in a public toilet if all the little urinals for children were occupied.

He didn't hesitate and with deadpan delivery "I just use the full size one and hang it over my shoulder"
