Marius Posted October 26, 2006 Share Hi Guys, I bought a wheelset but it's got a really weird looking valve and I have no idea how it works or how I'm suppose to inflate my tubular wheeletjies?? Please help me out. I got a pic, it's not very clare but maybe you'll have a better understanding as to what I'm talking about...
Marius Posted October 26, 2006 Share allo allo, you telling me know one knows how this damn thing works?
TitusTi Posted October 26, 2006 Share Is that a valve extender? Depends on the tubby and the valve extender. Some of them you actually unscrew the head of the valve with the valve core, then you screw the valve extender into that and then you screw the valve head onto that again. On others you essentially leave the valve open screw the extender in and inflate. I would suggest you have a look at this before you commence glueing! How are you going to be doing the glueing? Trackie Posted October 26, 2006 Share It looks like an extension adapter, used because the tube has a short length valve. Have you tried inflating the wheel?
101% Posted October 26, 2006 Share That just a valve extension as your new wheels have a deep profile its required to screw an extension over the tubby valve so you are able to pump it up ,Tubby valves are usually short around 25-28mm. if you want you can unscrew in once your wheels are inflated. FanieFiets Posted October 26, 2006 Share kon jy nie net die ou vra by wie jy dit gekoop het nie?
Marius Posted October 26, 2006 Share No, it's already glued on Titus and inflated, I had that done at CWC, I just need to know how I can further inflate the tyre, it feels like I can go a bit harder. It's Conti Comp Tubular tyres. Do I need a special pump or something? I did turn the valve looking thing round and round but it's not coming off.. TitusTi Posted October 26, 2006 Share No, you don't need a special pump, how much pressure did you get in there, try turning it the other way? Sorry not sure what the bottom of that thing looks like so can't be of much help. You shouldn't need a special pump at all though.
Marius Posted October 26, 2006 Share <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I'll buggg Chris Jnr after he's finished training this morning Fanie, just thought I'll try and sort it out myself, so the general consensuses is then that I should be able to unscrew that black thingy to reveal the valve and then I can use my normal pump to pump it up, right? TitusTi Posted October 26, 2006 Share No, the black thingy is the valve. The valve for the Tubby is a long way down in your rim.

TitusTi Posted October 26, 2006 Share You attach the pump to the weird valve thingy and pump that up, they should have left the valve open for you?

Do you know how to remove a tub and mount a new one ? Take some sort of on road repair option like the sealant spray that I use - otherwise you are stuffed if you flat. Still - it will give us a Friday laugh when you post all about it tomorrow Are they Easton carbon rims ?
