Shimano xt 12speed or Sram Gx 12 speed

I went from XO1 to new 12sp XT (albeit with XTR cassette for weight).

XT beats XO1 hands down, so imagine it'll beat GX too.   And GX cassette == weight of XT cassette so go for it.

The shifting up under load is incredible.

I'm on GX EAGLE. Once properly dialled in it's fast, smooth and precise everything a load of guys/bike shops said it would never be.

If the set up is sh#t it does not matter if you are on XX1 or SLX.

After set up it all depends on which brand you prefer.

shyoh thats interesting....

I currently have GX 12spd (trail bike) and XX1 12spd (race bike). The XX1 is so much better it makes the GX seem very ordinary, slow and heavy.

Really keen on trying XT 12spd!

Changed my drivetrain from Eagle GX to SLX 12 speed. SLX shifting under load is on another level.  Smoother and quieter too. SLX  is better in my opinion.

Nice read this, not that I understand everything...

Agreed. The bicycle tech war is truly underway - exacerbated by trying to fit 12 gears into limited space...

I do miss the days of being able to build a groupset with 6 or 7 basic tools!   That said - it is fun pulling out 20 specliaist tools and a laptop for a nice, clean 1x build!

I remember the days when I got my first 'big' bike, some kind of Raleigh.  The more gears you had, the better the bike was.  Think my bike had 21 or 24 gears.

Ahhhh the "good" old days. 3x systems,  52 tooth big blades, 150mm stems, 500mm bars, vee brakes, elastomer shocks (if you were rich/lucky), steel frames, thumbies....riding is way more confortable now
