Got a set of DT Swiss Spline 1900 wheels, with 3 pawl freehub. What grease/ lube are you using when servicing your hubs? I know DT Swiss has their own fancy stuff.

I know you don't want thick grease in there or too much of it. Would a slick grease like Sram butter work, rather then my usual waterproof grease. Some say stick to and oil/ thin lube?

Hi there, and apologies for only seeing this thread now!

BaGearA is right in saying you can use slick honey or almost any universal grease really.

Only DT's Ratchet and Ratchet EXP hubs require the use of their "Special Grease" which is formulated to run less viscous while still affording the benefits of normal grease.

We sell tubs of universal grease as well as 3/2 pawl service kits which includes the universal grease, three pawls and the pawl spring too, however these items you will need to order through your LBS.

Hope this helps!

Just did a rebuild and used SRAM butter on the pawls and my regular marine grease on everything else.

The smaller bearing in my free wheel body turned out to be in a bad way. Replaced all of the bearings. These is some wear on the ratcheting ring on the hub side. Can this ring also be replaced with the pawls?

All seems to be running well though after a decent test ride today.

Funny enough, I did a freehub service the other day and used sram butter because it is all I had other than some thick waterproof grease, and I have been wondering if it will be ok, seeing this thread has put my worries at ease at least...

Ratchet ring can be replaced, you'll need the tool to get the old one out though. While you're there you may as well do the hub bearings, you've got to take the drive ring out to get to the drive side one.

Replaced the hub bearings too. On the 3 pawl hub I have, you don't need to remove the ring to get the hub bearing out.

Morning Alouette3

These rings are sold separately from the pawls and are always in stock with Get Stoked.

I can gladly get in touch with your LBS to have one sent over for you?

Cheers

Just go sparingly on the pawls and they won't get stuck

Great thanks. Hub seems to be running perfectly now. Will likely replace at the next service.
