Upgraded to GX AXS last week, using a SLX 12sp cassette and chain. Installation and setup was simple and it works fine - except for one ratio - I get a nasty click-click on the 18 sprocket

TBH, I've just done some short rides around. Any ideas what it could be? micro adjust perhaps? I'm uncertain as the rest of the shifts seem 100%

Sticky cable with AXS ? ????

most likely bent hanger yes, have you done your b screw according to the manual (not necessarily using the tool that I couldn't use myself on the XT cassette, but measuring the gap between largest or second largest cog and pulley ?)

If yes check the alignment between the top pulley and your cogs at the bottom of the cassette and at the top. If for example at the bottom your pulley is slightly to the right of the cog and at the top slightly to the left, either your hanger or your deraileur is bent (unlikely with axs especially if it new). I had this exact problem with my XTR deraileur, changed the hanger, still had a problem so went the GX AXS way and it was problem solved so my old deraileur was most likely a little bit bent

Check the 18T sprocket for a bent tooth. SLX sprockets are made of softer cheaper steel than XT and stamped so its more of a possibility to have a QC issue.

If its indexing across the other gears fine and no clickety click noises then your problem is confined to that sprocket. The smaller sprockets are not sensitive to B screw adjustment, especially with AXS.

Also are you using a Shimano 12s Hyperglide+ compatible chainring? If not,.. try an Eagle chain and see if the problem persists.

I have had one funky set up i troubleshooted where the hybrid system did not like the <spits> controversial brand oval chainring. Fitted my 104 eagle chain ring and no problem, other chainring back on and skipping in the 24t sprocket. (XT cassette, GX AXS derailleur with hyperglide+ chain)

There is a YouTube video that covers the setup very well. It mentions that there is a 1.1mm difference in the cassettes between sram and shimano, so what you do as a compromise is to align the derailleur perfectly to the middle cog which then means you are out .5mm odd for the rest of the gears either way, which is negligible. This of course then assuming hanger is straight and your distance it correct on the biggest cog. You can’t use the tool provided by SRAM so you need to measure manually. Also super important to use shimano chain

You are truly skilled when you can micro adjust while riding!  What does your chain line look like?

Micro adjustment whilst riding is easy with axs - press a button and shift up or down depending on the problem

you know it’s simple if I can do it

axs is the best money I’ve spent

100% agree on this. If I had the strength to use a normal shifter, it'd be far too painful. AXS has me on the trails again. and that's priceless for me

Boost dropout with 3mm offset chainring. not sure what the exact measurement is nor how an incorrect chainline would manifest itself. for now shifting is peachy
