Checked your pedals and/or cleats?

They were making all manner of horrible noises, but I finally had enough after 6 months and rebuilt them a week ago. They have been running smooth and noise free ever since. The only gripe I have with my e*thirteen pedals is the seals are impossible to reseat once you take them off.

Don’t grease the freehub inside. Clean and very light weight crease around the pawl springs only.

This thread is all kinds of PTSD and De Ja Vu

Yeah I have rebuilt quite a few hubs, so I am good with that. I might have given the wrong vibe that I am not very mechanically inclined when it comes to bikes, when in fact, it is the opposite haha

I am a part-time bike mechanic and the main reason I started this thread was that I needed people's input and experiences as to what it may be - then I would look at that element of it.

So thanks guys for all the help and I didn't expect this thread to reach almost 50 replies. Crazy how willing  to help people on here are.

*Also steady, I can only imagine the flashbacks you are getting lol

Time for a new bike?

Once you have the dreaded creak, it's time...

Have you looked at your pedals?

Yeah I would consider that, except the bike is only a month old haha

As I earlier said, I rebuilt the pedals a week ago, so they are all good.

Most of my clicking creaking faults were found with the rear wheel skewer - remove the wheel, inspect the dropouts, check the through axle, clean it all lekka, mount the wheel and make sure the through axel is tight.

I am actually not sure, the cassette is pretty dead, so there may well be. But it isn't a sound from the chain skipping or anything, it is a click that you can feel through the bike.

Bottom bracket for sure ,if you can feel it .Happened to me on a Token BB with only 30 km on

It is not BB. I have revreased everything there and when I take chain off and apply pressure, it makes no noise.

Check the Pedals Again.

Replace with some Other Pedals Temporary.

It happens even if I push the crank arm with no pedals, so it definitely is not them.

Hey hubbers, I was out riding yesterday and upon riding home, I discovered there was a clicking sound coming from the rear end.

I suspect it is hub-related because I have recently regreased the entire bottom bracket assembly and the noise is only present when I am pedalling.

Even if I pedal with literally no load, the clicking is still present, but only if I am sitting on the bike. On the stand, the noise is gone.

Another thing that has confused me is that it only makes the noise in the 3 easiest gears.

Incase it helps, it is a sram gx 10-50 cassette on a lyne amp high engagement wheel.

Normally I am pretty good with these things but this has stumped me. I am planning to tear the hub down on saturday but I am hoping it may be something simple that I overlooked.

I have exactly the same happen. And sometimes its there and sometimes its not. SRAM GX coupled with XX1 cassette. And its definitely coming from that combo. Also only the biggest 3 rings. And usually only going uphill. I've given up worrying about it. Make sure the derailleur is perfectly set, check to see if anything is touching or hooking anywhere. Outside of that, just go ride.

Outta interest, what hub are you using?

I am going to probably fully rebuild the hub and give the whole drivetrain an extremely deep clean. I will also apply fresh grease to the cassette and XD driver interface.

Ursus Kodiak wheels and proprietary hub. The problem in this case is definitely not the hub though. Chain is also XX1 BTW. Incidentally, I haven't been paying close attention but I seem to think that I haven't heard it since the most recent service about 2 or 300km back. I really do suspect that it's a derailleur fine tuning issue. But I could be mistaken. I also seem to recollect that it occasionally happened with my Bontrager wheels and hub with GX cassette. But as I say, I eventually stopped paying attention to it. It's not a serious issue.

Thanks bru

I am going to do everything I can to fix it on the weekend, so i will see how it goes and let everyone know what the actual problem was once I solve it

OFF TOPIC ... sort off ....

Couple of years back we bought a new 4x4, and a few weeks later we did our first trip in it.  It hade barely a 1 000 km on the clock when it developed the most annoying rattle in the cab ...

Is it in the dashboard ?

Is it in the centre console ?

everything gets moved and checked ... towards the end of the weekend this infernal rattle had me at wits end, and ready to skin the dealer on Monday .....

And then the light bulb moment .... I had removed the lighter to plug in the GPS power point ..... the lighter was rattling on the tray.
