New Shoes. Please Help.

Hi All,
I have gone through the forum and previous chats.

My current MTB Shoes, Shimano XC501 may be too small, or my feet are too wide for them. Also, I am getting numbness on the front and outer sides of my feet. And yes, I have gone for a bike fit.

Anyway, I bought a road bike for triathlon and decided to get a new pair of MTB shoes to use for the mtb and road bike.

I've been doing some research over the last couple of days, and I can't narrow it down to what I need to get.
I am currently looking at the Specialized Recon 3.0 or Shimano XC702 Wide (having difficulty finding a shop that stocks them). Other brands recommended online were Sidi, Lake, Giro and Bont. I like Sidi, but I prefer BOA for Triathlons. Couldn't find a shop that stocks Bont or Lake, and not keen to buy online as I already own one pair that I thought was the correct fit which ended up not being.

Any suggestions or tips would be great. Thanks!

Ben riding Spez shoes for years and recently bought Recon 3.0.

Super comfortable and would recommend.... the sole is still very stiff except for a small piece just behind the toes. This makes walking much more comfortable.

For those who say... not meant to walk....... buy clogs

Thanks for the feedback. Did you get your "normal" size or slightly bigger? Are they worth the 5k? And did you consider the Recon 2.0 before buying?

Yes went with normal size. Used to go one up but found it’s not needed for Reckon. Did look at Recon 2.0 but order double boa to more precisely get tension right.

I have the Recon 2.0 and really like them, to Ozzie's point, I tend to do a "second tighten" after a short while with them on. I would never have bought them, they were a lucky draw prize... And enjoy them so much that I am considering getting the road equivalent.

If you have cash get lake extra wide. I have same problem with spez. What I need they don't stock. Lake has but I don't got 10k for shoes. So flats and my safety boots will have to do for now

Which Lake shoes would you go for? Wouldnt the cheaper versions be sufficient?

If you need Extra wide. Then the 301/302 I think. They have wide. Also they have a chart how to measure your feet and under the shoes give you the width when looking at wide and e wide. Measure your shoe first.

How wide do you need ?

In tekkies I am size 11, with a 4E width.

Specialized 2FO fits perfectly 👍😁

First time round it took almost 4 months for the order.

Last year they had stock, so no waiting 👍👍

You could also look at DMT

Where are you based, I can always enquire on the Shimano’s for you.

If you have naturally wide feet, I d definitely go with Lakes, Melo Velo stock Lake.

Check out Bikefit james on YT he gives a lot of good advice 👍 with shoes and cleat position.
