That looks like wear from the upper bushing - If the stanchions were replaced last Sept then clearly they didn't replace the bushings - which is insane ! - new stanchions = new bushings as well

Also…is it just me or are the stanchion on the wrong way around? I might be wrong but as far as my memory goes….the travel indicator leg has always been on the left?
 

(Edit: nevermind, i am wrong, the older ones had them that side)

Hi worn out bushing will cause stansion wear.If stansion was replaced and  the bushings not the end result will be stansion wear.Rock shox sa does not supply bushings on their own you have to but a new lower leg aswell.We do bushings separate from nd tuned

From the photos you posted one of two things has happened here. One is that you're a slow learner, ran the fork too long and wore your stanchion out again - doubtful, since you've had to fork out for a replacement already. The other, more likely one is that the bushings weren't done and the old wrecked bushing has taken the stanchion with it.

Slow learner. Lol. 

With the fork stanchion replacement. Invoice was over R7000. So yes. Did assume everything was done. I am thinking now that this was not the case.

Was 8 months. More than 200 hours. It's my wife's bike, she does lockout a lot.

Check if there's a set of lowers on the invoice. If not, you have your answer. 

But more than 200 hours with lots of locked out riding could do that. 200 hour major service with a lowers service in between should be your default.

I agree. Will be my position when discuss with my mates at the bike shop. Let's see what they say. I suspect I will have to chalk this one to experience.

This is about 6 grand a year in fork servicing (3 major services and 3 lowers service a year - wife rides more than me). Maybe better to skip services, buy a new one when required. Which is pretty much what I have been doing, up to now. It was taking 4 to 5 years to trash the fork when I only serviced the fork when it gave an issue.

I have 11000km on my Rockshock Revelation and apart from some crash-inflicted scratches on the stanchions they are holding up very well. I don't service them nearly as often as I should and I don't have any issues. I also don't ride them locked out all the time. I will lock them out if I remember to do so, but generally, I just leave them unlocked.
