I wanted a bike rack that matched the width of the Jimny.

The Thule bike racks keep the front wheel on which makes the bike protrude on either side of the vehicle. I also don't need a two to three bike rack, just a single bike. Plus the crazy prices that they ask for their products.

So I decided to make my own. I bought the seat post clamp from Thule as well as the rubber strap that holds the rear wheel in place.

The front wheel from my Scott Spark bolts to the spare wheel of the Jimny, saving space.

On a trip to the berg this week, there was no noticeable increase in fuel consumption with the bike on the rear of the vehicle.

Just double check if you're insurance is cool with it , looks great

but i but the bullet with thule cause my insurance is 100% with it being carried the way i do

Good point - make sure you make a way to lock the bike to the car.  That will be an issue for all insurers and certain insurers require you to have a certain thickness cable lock...

Nice job!
