Rentals/Testing

Hi everyone.

We want to start MTB as a family.

Buying a new or used bike is quite an investment.

And I think its probably the best taking a few test rides with a hard tail and a dual suspension before deciding.

Anyone willing to rent their bike out for a test? I am in Gauteng Central Pta. We can meet up at a known trail park.

Regards Monique

There are Rental bikes at Taroko Trails, not cheap but it's a start, it is going to be muddy for the next couple of weeks.

Chat to Bike Market - you can at the very least ride their bikes in the parking lot lol but in all honesty they have just about every type of bike available second hand and you’ll be able to get a really good idea of what you would like.

NB factor in the price of a platform carrier that will work for the bikes you choose. Some dualsus bikes won’t fit on a hanging carrier. You’ll be looking at 8 (good used) to 25k (top spec new) for a suitable carrier with sufficient width between all the bikes that you don’t have damage to them when loading.

Hi Monique

Cycling as a family is pretty awesome.

You'll be able to rent some bikes at Rosemary Hill.
Also, keep a look-out for demo days at Wolwespruit where you can test out pretty awesome bikes at Trek.

@Monique R00s there are also some  full suss bikes from @Titan Racing Bikes on display for demo rides at Trailwolf, the bike shop inside Taroko/Modderfontein.

Between these and the rental hardtails you should be able to get idea of what fits your needs. Plus the Trailwolf team have a full setup for advice, fitment, servicing, retail etc …

While you are searching, have a look at helmets, pants, tops, glasses, gloves.  In time shoes and pedals ....

BIKE SIZE !!!  Please make sure you get the right size bikes .... many of us have paid expensive school fees on this one.
