I think you'll probably be ok.

things get cleaned up during elections, remember.

Both days' events ran pretty smoothly last year, if you exclude one marshal on the 85km being a bit late to their post.
Seems like the road event is back this year, so I've entered for day 1's 85km MTB and day 2's 100km road.

I agree about the heartbreak re Knysna's current situation, but wouldn't boikot the event due to the municipal failure. I feel the organisers and area would need the support now more than ever.

I would not discourage tourists from visiting SA due to the governments failures, oh and please go vote...

Yeah that is very true.. it probably wouldn’t stop me if I was still able to holiday up the garden route.. 🤔

Anyone going to this event?

I entered the Saturday 50km Mtb and 100km Road event on the Sunday. Should be fun. Just hope we get some decent weather as Knysna in winter normally freaking cold and wet.

I've also entered for both days - 75km on Saturday and the 100km road on Sunday.
The weather last year was not too bad, it rained the day before but not during the races if I remember correctly. Hopefully the same or better this year 🤞

I wish there was somewhere we could just consolidate every race with all different companies. We have racetec, FinishTime, bouttime, winningtime and probably loads more.

How did your rides go?

The weather was great, the race village was better than last year. No issues with route marking or late marshals on the MTB that I am aware of, and good attendance for all the distances on both days.

My legs took a while to wake up on Sunday after the previous day's 80-ish, so I sat too far back and missed some of the faster groups on the first climb out of Knysna. Stupid, in hindsight, but oh well.

The new MTB route was good, and actually harder than the old one. What didn't make sense to me was the convergence of the short and long route over the last 30km along with a high number of e-bikes at the same time.

Having a fast race come from behind on a shorter race really isn't an enjoyable experience for any of the riders on the route and unfortunately, we experienced quite a few negative riders out there who wouldn't give way despite being asked nicely to do so.

The road race was great, although the start was a bit harrowing with a big number of mixed-ability riders starting together, but that quickly sorted itself out once we hit the first climb.

Great weather on both days, which made for an excellent weekend on the bike!

That route convergence thing has been part of the Knysna Mtb for a while before it went into hibernation. Let my go Strava stalk a few riders and see how their files compare to my last kmtb

Enjoyed the mtb on Saturday.

There were riders of various abilities on the last piece of snaking single track, but nothing too bad. Route was well marked and waterstops was good. Enjoyed the atmosphere afterwards, but only stayed for a short one.
